Alright so here is my delimma.. I am getting ready to assemble my 347, now I just did some trading with a guy today and ended up with a brand new (eBay special) twin turbo kit complete. Now for the engine at my disposal I have a set of pistons that will put my cr at either 9.6:1 or 10.9:1 depending on which set i install. Should I do a high comp n/a and sell the turbo kit so that I can buy a good exhaust and have 430 ish rwhp n/a or should I install the tt kit and make around 500 hp to keep it safe?? The one major factor is the turbos prolly won't last very long as they are china specials... Now I could sell the tt kit and buy a nice exhaust for na, plus get all my brackets and intake powder coated as compared to painted...

Thoughts? Ideas?

I'm at a cross roads now!!!! This is a good problem though!!

Well N/A will be cheaper. With the turbos you will need a heck of a fuel system, down pipes, oil lines, cold side plumbing, BOV, WGs, etc. If you get the turbos going then the cheap kit will def. give you headaches. Turbos are junk, SS kits are junk, they crack, split, etc. If you wanna go turbo, sell the cheap kit, buy a good sized single, flip some shorties and do it right. Or sale it and run N/A and have fun.

On a side note, 347 N/A with a good top end can make more than enough power to make your block a custom two piece coffee table. Adding boost isn't going to help with that.

yea thats my thoughts.. if i continue on, then selling the kit will allow me to buy a really nice exhaust setup, have all my accessories and intake powder coated, and have enough left over, to if need be, add a little nitrous to hit that 500 mark if i wanted...

with what i have now, it should make 400+ to the tires pretty easily..

Id put the higher compression pistons in and stay NA. Those Ebay kits are always suspect there could be lots of fitment issues and there are always the issues that come along with running boost. I have a friend w/ a turbo fox that just blew a head gasket on his turbo set up. He self tuned it, it was tuned safe and it still blew anyway

What HCI did you go with on your 347?

i will be using pro comp 210 cnc ported heads that flowed in at just under 300 cfm at .600 intake and 240 at .600 on the exhaust
anderson n-91 cam coupled with 1.7 rockers which puts me at .612 lift intake and exhaust with 240 intake and 248 exhaust duration
victor jr lower intake that has been drilled and bossed for injectors that will be port blended to the heads
spyder upper intake that will be blended to the lower
90 mm accufab tb
4'' intake
compression will come in at 10.9:1
exhaust will be 1 3/4 ceramic longtubes with full 3'' exhaust
tuning will be done by myself and a friend whom tunes lsx cars at a speed shop, using a tweecer rt and autometer wideband...

the previous setup was the same heads and cam, but with a trickflow street heat intake, 75mm tb, anderson power pipe, 1 5/8 shorties and 2 1/2 exhaust, compression was 9:1 and it made 360/395 to the ground through a 5 speed.... upon tear down i found cracks in 3 cyllinders which explains the over heating problem, and burning oil problem... this will all be fixed and assembled correctly using a new block. hoping to make 430ish to the ground once its all dialed in.

keeping my fingers crossed!

You've got a really nice N/A combo going that I'm sure you've put a lot of money and effort into, why finish it up with a cheap china Turbo kit?

that should be a strong running N/A setup, im kinda Bias though i love N/A power, my last fox had a 331 stroker that made 399rwhp 363rwtq, it was a blast to drive.

not worth putting that turbo on that n/a setup. sell the turbo and use the cash for the n/a build.
