My turn signals will not work unless I press in the hazard light button. If I just press the hazard button the lights don’t blink. The possible culprit is that I recently had my instrument cluster out to replace the odometer gear. I was thinking that the connectors on the back of the cluster may not be seated but all the instruments work – the turn signal indicators correctly show which turn signal is blinking. I don’t think I disturbed any other connectors but it was tight. Since plugging the cables into the cluster is a bit of a PIA so I’d like to not just pull it out / install it again as a debug.

take the gauges out and look at where the harness connects. It is a common problem that one of the copper contacts lifts up and makes either an open/short and cause problems. That or the multifunction switch

I think they teach in drivers education now that turn signals are optional anyway. Oh wait they got rid of that useless class since no one ever got any good from it, and they just made their minds up that it was too much work to push the turn signal since they can't get AI to do it.
