This might sound crazy but is this possible with a bottle jack and some metal poles with plates at the end or even 2x4’s with plates as well or some sort of square to spread out the load?thats going to be some work
the trunk lid is hitting both sides of the body
you can try it you will need a pota power
your going to look inside the trunk on the sides by wheels wells inside
find the heaviest plated panels inside and use the ram of the porta power to spread or separate
other words push outward till you have a clearance for your deck lid trunk lid
id worry about under till you get that part
you may have to push out in deferent positions to accomplish
Ive heard about doing that too. My buddy just bought a new edge and it had some from end damage, they dug holes in the ground big enough for a 5 gallon bucket to fit then pour concrete with a thick metal eye hook sticking out then used I believe a chain ratchet to straight it out. Ive been considering the tree thing to get the crease out on the spare tire compartment but im afraid id rip my car in half. Ill still have to use that porta power or something to fix the trunk over lapping the quarter panelyou could also do it like my buddy did back in high school and put a chain around the rear bumper and loop the other end around a strong tree and then floor it.
Most bottle jacks don't like/work in the horizontal position. This might sound crazy but is this possible with a bottle jack and some metal poles with plates at the end or even 2x4’s with plates as well or some sort of square to spread out the load?
Put that right up on the top of the list of things I did not know this morning(it is still early it may be along list by the end of the day). Is there a reason you know this other than trying it out and discovering this yourself? Just curious, sounds like there could be a good story...Most bottle jacks don't like/work in the horizontal position.
Most bottle jacks have the reservior at the bottom and use it to fill/pump when activated. Once you allow air to enter...well, let's just say it won't pump, or it pumps but not much happens. Much like a floor jack on it's side trying to work. Sometimes you can pursuade at a tilt to make it work, but it's a gamble. A porta-power has a pump/reservior separate from the piston piece so it can stay somewhat level. We tried this a bunch of times in the field when trying to change big loader tires (way back when) and sometimes we got lucky on an angle, but never horizontal. To test, you can just get your bottle jack out, lay it on it's side and try to pump. It'll work for a bit then quit as you try to expand the piston, and, you can put hand pressure to stop it.Put that right up on the top of the list of things I did not know this morning(it is still early it may be along list by the end of the day).
