used transmission

has anyone put in their mustang a used transmission? i just got a 95 auto and it needs a trans. should i buy a used oneto save some money b.c i really have non... or save up and get a new one? do you think it is worth it?

ive replaced a auto in my old 240sx..just depends what ur price range is i recomend gettin it rebuilt rather that replacing the whole thing its a pain...IMO

ya i dont know much yet i just got my first mustang last night. Im not trying to spend alot. I dont have much money right now. I know a guy who has a crashed 95 with an auto trans.he said he would give it to me for $200 Would it be a bad idea to put his in my car? is it worth a try could that work?

Ive put many a used trans in my Stang, but I can usually get 5 spds for dirt cheap, just gotta look around. are you gonna keep it auto, or go 5spd?

Btw, $200 is a killer deal for a used trans of any style. if anything, take it to a trans shop and have them look it over for ya, might cost you $100 or so...

If you know the guy pretty well, ask him to gurantee it. Maybe not for just a few days after you get it installed, but just enough to where if you slap it in and it's f'ed up too, he'll give you your money back.

ya i actaully dont know him that well but ill deff ask if he could do that. now that i know some people have done it i think im gonna take the chance and try it out. and prob take it to a trans shop to get looked at b4 i put it in. thankss for the help.
