v8 swap brake problems!!! help!

hey guys, i ran into a huge problem with my brakes! im swapping a 4.6 into my 97 v6 stang.. my car is non ABS however i cant find a non ABS master cylinder, and the lines are different going into the mastercylinder.. i was thinking of making up some flexible lines to run the old line to fit the new mastercylinder... but i dont know where they need to go... help! i have to have the car runnable by the weekend!

my 1996 GT doesnt have ABS either. perhaps track down a non abs GT M/C to swap in??

i thought the v6 and v8 had the same mc . so a v6 mc with no abs shoul work right?

can i just run my old brake booster from the v6 and just not have power steering?

not to familiar with v6 but if its hydroboost it should work if not you will prob have to switch every thing over from the a gt.

the hydroboost is the new stuff i have, but the v6 car i have still runs a brake booster like the 5.0l.. i dont care about the power steering! just need the car to stop!

why are you messing with the brake stuff to swap the engine? if you can keep the OEM stuff, keep it, and run the hydroboost later on when you have a better idea of what yer doin'.

the brake booster actually wont fit with the 4.6 being so wide! so im going to have to bend my own lines to make the v6 proportioning valve go to the hydroboost.

o i c. i knew the DOHC wouldnt fit, but im surprised the SOHC doesnt.

luckily, brake lines arent rocket science. :-D

yeah lol! all i need is two fitting because ford used fine threaded stuff goin into the master, so i just gotta add to the line going in to the proportioning valve..

there ya go. we are re-locating my proportioning valve as well. thinking inside the drivers side fender.

that sounds like a cool idea! i want to clean up the bay later on, but i just really want to drive it now! i got it running on thursday, and its been on jack stands since then! its killin me lol!

we are running my lines behind the fire-wall plastic thing... trying to make as much room in the engine bay as possible. lol.

i cant imagine having a freshly swapped car with a damn break line as the only thing stopping me...

just got a question..
how can i tell if my car has abs???
It shows an abs light on the cluster but when i hit the brakes hard and slide it doesnt have that buzzing vibration like my other cars with abs had...

Its a 95 mustang convertible v6 5speed if that helps anyone help me..lol

take off a wheel and search for the ABS assembly. sounds like you have ABS, but it may not be functioning properly.

it should be on the back of the wheel hub where the lug nuts bolt on....

k but if the abs isnt functioning properly shouldnt my abs light be on?
just curious..
and is that a picture of what im looking for... Isnt there some kind of sensor?

well, first we have to determine IF you have ABS. it sounds like you do and its "engaging" it simply isnt doing anything once the one switch is triggered.

if you find that part, you do in deed have ABS.

ok say i do have abs... how would i go about fixing the problem if it is just the one switch engaging?

If there is a sensor bolted to the back of the spindles then the car has ABS, another thing you can do to check if your car is ABS equipped is to look in the engine bay behing the radiator on the pass side. There will be block at the bottom with brake lines going in and out of it with a harness plugged into it; thats the ABS pump/block.

If your ABS wasn't working properly then you should have a blinking "ABS" light, my car doesn't have too much pedal pulsation but the ABS system works just fine.
