hey sorry to bother again but i got another question. i was told by someone to check for a vac leak on my car (i asked what would cause lack of power). i know what the vac hoses look like but whats the method for checking for a leak? and what do i do when i find the leak? isnt it just a hose to replace.

No need to be sorry.

Easiest way to find your leak is to turn the car on and let it idle, take a can of carb cleaner and start spraying it over vac lines. When you hear the idle raise, you've found your leak.

be very careful though, it can flash and cause a fire. be sure not to get it on the headers. also you can listen for one, it will sound like sucking air through a straw.

Loss of power can be caused by different things. Possible vacuum leak as mentioned and a dirty MAF or clogged filters (air & fuel). There are other variables but I would check these first. If you don't know when the air and fuel filters were changed, then just change them. The MAF element should be cleaned with MAF or electrical contact cleaner. Just spray on liberally. The vacuum leak is a little harder to find as hoses & fittings are not always visible. The best way is a smoke test but you will have to have a shop do that for you.
