Anyone got a 7928 - Ford Valve Spring Compressor Tool they wanna loan out? I got paypal.
Is this the tool I would need to reinstall a cam follower that may have fallen off?
I got only 75psi of compression on the spark plug hole compression test on cylinder #6. car was throwing code p0306 (cylinder 6 misfire detected)
Dyno shop dude seems to think that the cam follower for cyl 6 fell off due to lash adjuster not pumping up. i got spark and power to injector also just changed injectors to 30#ers and sct xcal2'ed them after the swap.
so what do you guys think, and does anyone wanna loan the spring compressor tool? let me know. thanks!

you shouldnt NEED one to remove the cam.
as long as you unbolt the cam from the center in a circular pattern (same process as torquing a valve cover) it should come out fine. just loosen the last few bolt carefully and equally so you dont bend the cam at all.
thats all i do when i remove rocker shafts at work (caterpillar dealer)

thanks for the reply. but i don't need to remove the cam(s). just need to (possibly) reinstall a cam "follower" that may have fallen off. me and car nut friends have conferred and don't think that rings is the cause of my lack in compression on only one cylinder. again, i have spark to that cylinder, and have 12V to the injector for that cylinder. i just changed the injectors (all). only logical thing is valves are stuck open/floating due to follower (read: rocker) coming off.

ohh ok.. well i just looked at that service manual thing on the site here and saw you dont have to remove the cam to take off the follower.

how long did you run it like that? hope you didnt burn a valve. :-\

You should be able to go to Advance Auto or Autozone and rent one of those tools.
