I just rebuilt my engine a couple weeks ago and got it running again, and it seems to have a slight tick in it coming from what sounds to be the passenger side of the car maybe the 3rd or 4th cylinder. It has new comp270's w/ comp valve springs and a 3angle valve job (i reused the roller followers and the lash adjusters.) Has anyone ever had a problem with reusing their stock valvetrain components? I want to say its a bad lash adjuster?

Its perfectly fine to use stock valvetrain parts. You may have wanted to go with new lash adjusters depending on mileage, but that's up to you. I had new lash adjusters in my car with the stock OE followers. You could have a collapsed lash adjuster, but with not knowing the mileage or really hearing the noise in person, its tough to say.

Does the noise ever change as far as engine load, temp, rpm or run time? Has the noise gotten louder/quieter?

See chirs, thats why you keep our 2v put the same cams I had in my car in there and be done with it.

He prob wont need followers, its more likely a lash adjsuter.

Take of the valve covers. if you can wiggle any of the followers loose with no problem, you collapsed at lash adjuster. I recommend doing this asap before you completely loose a follower and have a nice dent in your piston from connecting with a valve.

I had 6 collapse on 1 bank and you'll really know when it does because it won't lope any more it'll get a hollow gurgle. Recommended that you replace your followers as necessary to when you do. that's what I did. I bought TFS lash adjusters and Ford GT cam followers.

hey guys sorry i havent been able to get on in a while. the lash adjusters have est. around 100k but everything else is brand new. The tick doesnt seem to be getting any worse or any better with heat, rpm's, or load. But like i said everything else in my valvetrain is brand new so im really going with the lash adjusters. How ironic that the only thing that i didnt replace in that damn engine were the lash adjusters and they're the ones giving me all the trouble. haha Modular headshop has a sweet deal on some american made ones for $89.99 for a set of 16 if anyone else is having a similar problem. Thats about the cheapest i could find them around.
