I finally got the vortech S-Trim installed on my 1994 Mustang GT this week and got it dyno tuned. The results were a little lower than I expected, but otherwise, it runs pretty good. I installed the following:
Stock long block
Vortech V-1 S-Trim
42 lb injectors
Lighting 90 mm MAF
Anderson Power Pipe
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
The tune shop put in a conservative tune at first, and the car pulled 268 hp. Then they started tweaking and doing pulls. The power actually dropped down to 248 hp before climbing back up. It wound up with 270 hp. I was expecting somewhere between 300 and 320. So my question is, do you have any idea’s why? The blower appears to be running good. I saw 10#’s at redline. The tuners only let the car sit maybe 5 mins between pulls, so the car was HOT. Outside, it was in the 60's and pouring down rain during the tune. Other than that, I don’t know why the power is not over 300. I do know that when I pulled the upper intake manifold off the car, the runners were coated in hard, black carbon. I could try cleaning the upper end with some seafoam, if you think that’s ok to do or if it would even help.
I'm tempted to just go to the track and see how she does. The dyno sheet won't matter if it's fast. Otherwise, I might try another tune shop for a "second opinion", but I really do think they did get it dialed in correctly. On the street, it feels fast and pushs you back in the seat pretty good.
Any tips or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
