if you can't beat a vr6 with your mustang than that car is not anywhere near stock. I beat a modded one with my stock junk 89 SHO. Although it was an older one like a 98 jetta vr6. I wasn't very impressed with the R32s either as it barely beat my friends stock civic si.

well, the dude with the VW, is a friend of mine. it's a 96 golf. My buddy got the car during the summer, and we were able to find a craigslist ad on it, claiming that it is some sort of rebuild. but we really dont know any details on the "rebuild". Other than the mysterious rebuild, It has an exhaust and short throw. IDK, is my mustang slower than it should be, or is that thing just faster than it should be. we both didnt miss any shifts or mess up. we are just gonna wait until the track upens up for round 2 but damn

No my roomate has a 2001 GTI VR6 5 sp and that thing will haul balls. When we go i can usually pull a length on him or so off the start. But then when we get on the highway were about dead even. I think last time we went i was barely pulling on him on the highway.

i raced a stock VR6 with my mustang with my old 3.55s in it and completely and totally owned it.... .. . .. lol...

i then raced some hatch with a VR6 AWD swap (????) and we went from a dig and he beat me by about a car or two.

A newer 24v vr6 makes like 200 hp stock...I beat one in my 91 lincoln mark 7 that would run low 15s at 91 mph.

They run 15s stock...nothing special.

But they can be made fast with some work.

I can see you not pulling one all that bad from a roll though cause they have good top end but from a dig you would rape one.

It still seems like you should have pulled more than you did but maybe he had something under the hood.

What body style was it?

They like to throw the new vr6 motors with some work in an older stlye stripped hatchback so they weight like 2500 lbs and move out from a roll with 200 hp.

its a 95 golf (hatchback) and I know about as much as he knows about the car. I was riding in it the first time he test drove it. we know it has some sort of "rebuilt VR6". Thats all I know, I'd like to track down the last owner who did all the engine stuff. we kinda went from a dead stop at a light, but not really. like it turned green, I inched foward looked at him then we both went and thats kinda where I got ahead but idk

well, for that car to keep up with you than it probably has a 24v vr6 with some bolt ons....

the 12v vr6 is a turd which is what is stock before like 2003

His car is probably like 2800 lbs vs your 3400 or so.
