So finally got the last tax return check and it's time to buy tires. I'm going with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's for my saleens. I have 305's now and my fender cuts them up so I want to try a 295 instead. After shopping around on discount tire direct these are the sizes I can find, but I need some insight on wether or not these are ok.

Front: 265/35/18
Rear: 295/30/18
Now from what I understand the 30 or 35 sidewall profile is a ratio of the width and you can turn that into a percent and multiply it by the width. For example the 295/30/18,
30%=.30, .3x295=88.5 (is 88.5 the height of the tire?) if it is then it will be shorter than the 265 ( .35x265= 92.75) to recap, the front will be 92.75 high and the rear will only be 88.5
So is this a problem, because they are not showing anything shorter for a 265 front tire and I want to stay with a wide tire in the front to help with handling. Thanks guys.

Re: Need serious help before I spend $800

ok so the number I posted up top are in millimeters right? I just want to make sure that the half inch height difference wont have a negative effect because in my case 800 bones is a pretty decent chunk of change and I dont want to be unhappy with the purchase.

Yes, the numbers are in mm.
29mm 5x .30mm = 88.5mm
88.5mm is the height of the sidewall of the tire, not the entire tire (no pun intented)

Re: Need serious help before I spend $800

ok so please learn me here. Will my rear tire be taller than the front or vice versa? I just went ahead and ordered 295/35/18 for the rear and 275/35/18 for the fronts (Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's)

Awsome guys. Yea I have 305's in the rear now and they get cut by the quarter panel, hopefully the 295's wont rub. They should be here this week.

Re: Need serious help before I spend $800

Were did find 295/35's Hankook's? I only see them in 295/30's?
Any who the over all diameter is 265/35/18=25.3 295/30/18=24.97 so yes the front will be taller then the rear but only by 0.33.
I was going to order Nitto Invo tires last week until some one mentioned these tires to me. So far the reviews have been outstanding for both wet and dry traction.
If you can post up pics when you have them on, I would really appreciate it (close up's if possible). I'm not sure how 295/30's would look which is some what holding back from ordering them. I'm hoping they don't look like rubber bands, if not I will probably go that route.

Yea my bad, they are 295/30's and they were just dropped off yesterday. I'll get them mounted and balanced tonight and snap some pics. They do look seriously low profile but I hope it helps with my rubbing issue. If the fenders start to touch the tire I will resort to taking the grinder to the quarter panel lip.

Re: Need serious help before I spend $800

Well got them on last night and a fresh lifetime alignment from Firestone. To be completely honest I'm not 100% happy with the look of the rear. 295/35/18 is supposedly not a common size so a lot of brands dont make that size and I had to settle with 295/30's because I wanted the same brand of tire front and back. To recap: Hankook Ventus Evo K112
FRONT= 275/37/18 (18x9)
REAR= 295/30/18 (18x10)
Anyway the sidewalls on the rear tires are very very short and it makes the wheelwell look bigger of course, ride height seems to still be pretty level though which is cool. Now the reason I'm 90% happy is because wholy Hell, these tires make the car feel like its on rails. I took her on some back roads last night and I had an absolute blast. The ride better than my Nitto 555r drags which had a larger sidewall, they are so quiet, no more womp womp womp going down the road lol. So all in all I'm pretty satisfied, just wish they looked meatier as far as the sidewall goes.

Sorry about the quality but I'm at work and had to run out real quick and get some shots with the point and shoot. She's pretty dirty too

Well you think its that bad? I think it's barely noticeable and the benefits def outway the "have to stare to notice it" low profile.

Not that bad but you can tell there is more meat up front. The wheel well gives it away as there is more exposed in the rear.
