Wastegate on the blower once again

I know this has been discussed before....but Im really curious how I might benefit with my setup.

Say Im gonna run 10 psi intercooled.


I was thinking I could throw a 15+ psi pulley on there with a mechanical wastegate set to open at 10 psi.

It wouldnt be a dramatic differance but I would imagine that it would make a couple more psi earlier and it would have some affect.

I was under the impression that you could get a wastegate to mechanically open when theres more than 10 psi...dont know if this is possible.

Any thoughts on how much differance there would be?

Is it even worth it?

MM&FF did a writeup on this a few months back. They used a boost controller as well as the wastegate. Had a torque curve very similar to a rotts type blower from centrifugal blower.

The previous owner said he had no issues with belt slip with 12 or 15 psi pulleys.

I would like to try it ...run a 10 psi wastegate with a 15 psi pulley...should give me a good bit more mid range without heating the shit out of the air too much

you HAVE to run blow thru. Technically it shouldnt slip because your just bypassing anything the blower makes over 10 psi into the atmosphere (less strain than compressing it to 15psi). You would be in the boost alot sooner. the blower will not be compressing the air to 15psi. that makes me wonder if a blower would have belt slip with a 20lb + pulley with a wastegate set to 10lbs. y not buy the smallest pulley you can without overspinning the blower? it would just have better bottom and midrange pull and it would keep the centri's good top end

yea. I know...im really tired of it sitting around but ive been waiting for a weekend...+ my brother is supposed to give me a hand with this 10 year install.
