water pump issue.

ok so i got my car back from the paint shop. went driving around last night and it jumped to like 240 so i pulled over and saw water comeing out from like behind the harmonic balancer maybe have been running down or something i dont know, so i called my buddies and hes said oh yeah your car has been leaking water while it was here, i was like oh yeah well thanks dip s**t. so i took off the water pump today and didnt see anything bad. but i am going to replace it anyways. my question is. what all would i look for or replace. it says there is a gasket from the plate to the block? could it not be the water pump. any imput would be grateful.

it could be leaking through the weep hole. Its a cheap replacement anyway if you already have it off even if it was mint I would just put a new one on there. BTW just get a stock replacement at a good auto parts store. I used to have a Ford Racing one on my car but by comparing that to my Napa the napa one is better.

i got one coming from oreillys should be here tomorrow. i wqas goint to replace it anyways, just making sure about the gasket from the plate to the block,.

what do you mean plate to block. Water pump to timing cover or timing cover to engine block? The new wp should come with the water pump gasket.

when i looked up on any auto parts website (autozone,advance, etc.....) it shows two gaskets. water pump to timing plate, and plate to block

well your only touching the wp to plate then. Plus if its the plate to blocking leaking it would be oil anyway.

I just replaced my timing chain cover it blew out when my head gasket went I had a crazy bad coolant leak from that cover.But replace that water pump make sure you remember which bolt goes where.
