Isn the problem with pur cars more about weight distribution?

Wouldnt it be a good idea to remove as much weight from the front end as possible?

Weight distribution is important. But this topic is about all around making our cars lighter.

will a manual rack from a 4 cylinder fox fit an sn95?
different tie rod ends or steering shaft spline?
will a manual brake adapter for a fox fit an sn95?
these cars really seem to be the red-headed stepchild of 79 and up mustangs..
i used to have a 73 mach 1, and it was also the bastard child (as far as sheetmetal, NOS fenders etc)the 69-70s got more
attention from the aftermarket..

Hey buddy...don't take this the wrong way :) but this is a weight reduction topic. not many people are gonna see your questions. I'd suggest posting it in General Tech or the Garage as a topic ;D

If you guys are going as radical as power steering, why not remove the bumpers themselves inside the bumper covers, and put the bumper covers back on, just with out the actual bumpers?

that works for the reear but the front bumper without a re-inforcement can flatten out at high speeds at the end of the track and create drag.....thats worse then the weight you removed

anything that warps my car isn't going to happen.

I feel like for the most part, weight reduction is too much of a pain if you want to keep the creature comforts of your daily driver/streetable car. Except for thing like the dogbone, ect., I'm pretty sure that the best way to remove weight it to buy aftermarket lighter parts rather than just trying to find ways to take out stuff completely.

I don't know about you guys, but I like things like my A/C, cruise, and radio lol

none of that stuff is needed on a drag car.....this thread is really not oriented towards a car thats your Daily driver

Been awhile since this has been posted in but Im doing some serious weight reduction mods. Ive been fighting an up hill battle since I started off with being 100lbs more just b/c of the 351 VS the 302. Currently what I have done for weight reduction is as followed some Ive done, some were done before I got the Cobra.

- Spare tire and jack gone

- Aluminum heads

- Rear seat delete

- Smog removed

- Remove the front seat for the track

- Weld racing wheels for the rear (track)

- aluminum pulleys

With that being done w/ me in it the car weighs in at 3,584 as of last summer. I weigh approx 185-190. As far as what I am doing for this year this is what I plan on.

- K member & A arms

- Remove the quad shocks

- Remove the AC

- Run skinnies for the track

- Remove the Sway bar for the track

- CR1 Race seats

I think thats about everything once its all done and I get to weigh it at the track I'll report back w/ the weight savings.

I think I have one of the lightest sn95's around that can be daily driven. Then again, my weight reduction list is longer than any list mentioned in this thread to date. ;-)
