You're scaring me.. I sure as hell hope I don't need a new crank.. that would mean I'd have to sell the mustang. I simply don't have the money for those kinda repairs.

which is why I was gonna find a stocker for ya. Latemodel Restoration Supply has assembled shortblocks for about $600 US. I think you are going to be able to fix it, however.

appreciate it man! First, let's survive the 70mile trip to the shop first this week, and see what they're gonna do about it..

Ok, the way it looks now itll go like this:

I'm gonna rent a trailer, and a friend of mine is gonna drive me and the trailer+mustang to the shop next saturday.
I know it's another week of not driving, but I didn't have a good feeling about driving 70 miles back to the shop with a car that randomly eats his belt because the balancer is not on far enough and has something wrong in the crank.

Apart from that, I reckon it shows the shop how serious I am when I show up with a trailered mustang.

I like your thought process. renting a trailer is better than having the balancer eat the bottom end of the engine, im sure. I hope they fix it the right way this time, your cars way too clean to sell. Btw, found a complete Explorer motor for ya, if needed.

Just on the phone twice. Once when I shredded the belt, he blamed it on the belt being faulty. And the second time to let them know I am taking the car on a trailer there saturday because I found out about the bolt etc.. He said I could bring it over but was still convinced they installed it fine.

So I can't say for sure if they're gonna admit their mistake when they see it and repair it free of cost.. we'll have to see.

don't sweat it.. just tighten the bolt by hand instead of using an impact. I didn't even need to pull the rad or fan.

Also go rent a flywheel holder from the auto parts store.

Dutch i don't know i would even bother with them. From what it sounds like there going to try and weasel there way out of everything. Although if the washer is just flopping around back there that should be a clear indication that they installed it wrong. Who did you speak with at the shop ?? I would talk to the Owner if the shop manager refuses to do anything. 70 mile trek is a good one.

the flywheel holder is a really good idea, esp if you dont like prying on your bellhousing.

I talked to the owner always, it's just a small shop that specializes in mustangs.. the owner, his wife doing paperwork, and 2 mechanics.
