welding over epoxy flooring

car needs some welding and my garage floor is epxoy'd and i was wondering if anyone has done this. i dont want to start a fire or mess anything up. anyone ever done this?

It shouldn't start a fire. But the welding slag might leave little black burn spots where it melts into the epoxy

your floor definetly WONT start on fire, if your using a mig welder the spatter may leave little black spots, but thats about it.

Yeah, I made the mistake of torching some brackets off of an 8.8 and burned a hole in my epoxy. Looks like crap now. Also depends on how close you are welding to the floor. I found if I am welding up on the lift, there is very little damage to the floor, but if I am welding on the floor or close to the floor there are black burn marks all over it. I'd say use a welding blanket on the floor to protect it. jmho.

my vote is, be a man and learn how to tig weld. than you wont have these problems. lol jk.

yeah ill throw down some welding mats i have. thanks for the input everyone.
