Update for you fools.

So, I cant get the car to sell..Having it priced at 4500, with no bites. Unreal. Thats wayyyy below what I have in it. So, for now, I think I'm going to keep it..I was hoping to sell it, pay off the rest of my loan..get a beater..be able to take more classes for college. (199.00 car payment/mo, 160 bucks for insurance/no accidents OR tickets..) when I could have no car payment and 60-80 dollar car insurance payments for a beater..But anyway..

I aired the tires up, and drove it just a little. Still having that valvetrain noise, but I think I isolated it to the cams hitting the valve covers. *prays...* Sounds stupid, but like I said before, we fired it without the valve covers on, (even with a cold start) and didnt hear anything that sounded out of place.

However, im still leaking oil onto my exhaust, and its dripping down a bit. How much? Not sure. Still no dipstick tube in the car. I need to get the Lokar one. But.

I've broken down, and am going to take the car to my local ford dealership up the road here. Its close by, and they do good work..and yeah I know, also charge out the ass.

I need to figure out why I'm leaking oil. I've replaced the valve cover gaskets twice now, and now both sides leak..Just fed up. Frustrated. So Ill have them look into that, and might as well fix my o2 sensor as well.

When I moved the car from the spot it was in, I saw there was a good half dollar sized puddle of rear end fluid as well. Might need a new cover gasket..I think I might have them look into that as well....

Im sure all this will cost me 400-800 bucks or something stupid..But if thats the price I have to pay to drive my fucking car again, I guess I have no choice. Take out a small loan..pay it off. :BangHead:

I did get on it today..for the VERY first time since the PI swap. Gave it half throttle with a check engine light thrown (o2) sensor..
I was impressed. It screamed the tires..I wanted more..but parked it.

If your taking your ride to the Ford dealership you better take out a loan for a big jar of lube for your ARRRS lol. Willis said it right, get ready to drop some cheese. If I were you id try my damndest to do the work myself. Fixing leaks/drips just takes patience, gaskets, and RTV etc(Oh and beer). That stuff dosnt cost all that much but when your payin 60 bucks an hour(or more) for a tech to do it :violent1:. You will feel better in the end knowing you saved money and fixed it yourself. Hang in there.

ONTO not into. lol. Ive tried changing the valve cover gaskets twice, and im to the point where I just want it to be done with..however, the mechanic working on my car has done a PI swap, and said that he may know what the valvetrian noise is..from the voicemail I got, it doesnt sound good. Lets pray.

well dude, stick in there like red said, this will alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll be worth it in the long run whenever your camming around walking all kinds of cars.

Im trying..but the mechanic working on my car just did a PI swap on his car with aftermarket cams..and he says it sounds like an internal issue..Like a lash adjuster or something. If the heads have to come off were talking thousands of dollars..and I cant afford that. I could get loans, but thats just not economically smart to do. So..i find out tomorrow. So pray for me.

take off your valve covers, pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it over a few times. see if anything is out of place. and listen to see if you can pinpoint what side and where this noise is coming from.
or you can run it and take a long screwdriver with plastic handle (or if you happen to have a stethoscope handy use that) and put it to your ear and all along the valve covers, front cover and head if you can get that far down. might be able to hear the noise become louder at a certain spot.

i'd try everything i could before sending it for troubleshooting at the dealership for $140/hr.
there is only so much that can tick. did you check to make sure that all the valve retainers are installed properly.
i had a tick from the top end of a caterpillar 777F and was told to leave it. not even a month later it dropped a valve and became a $16000 warranty job. luckily didnt destroy the piston.
maybe check a few things out yourself before spending money on something that you could do yourself or with a little help from a service manual.

did you machine your valves or notch your pistons during the swap for the cams? if not you will have ptv piston to valve issues and thats whats making your noise. i just did the swap and had hitech machine the margin on my intake valves and have had no issues at all. car dynoed at 300rwhp

Yeah I machined the valves myself. I know of the PTV stuff..thanks anyway. Im sure if it was PTV it would have done it by now..I sent the video to Bart at HiTech, and he says its not PTV.

The shop is already done with the car..Im not taking those valve covers off again. I fired the car with them off for 15 seconds and didnt hear the noise at all. But when we put them on the noise came back. I dont know..If it breaks, I'm in the same boat I'm in right now.
Till then, I'm going to actually drive it.

Btw, I have a new thread up. This is old.
