Just HAD to get that second pull in against my buddy's 14 V6 Mustang and whaddya know disaster. Started at about 35 in 2nd.. Went into 3rd great... Went into 4th and I nailed it perfect and BAM loud ass pop. Next thing ya know were slowin down and I yell to my dude to pull over we've got a problem. I think I blew out my rear end...

It's clunking real bad sounds like a hammer is hitting the car when you drive it. We rolled it around a church parking lot and theres definitely "that spot" that you roll it forward or back and it clunks. I really don't know how else to describe it. Any ideas from my terrible description? Called my mom at 2am who I knew would just love to hear that I was broken down, again. So she shot me some money (Was going to go to the bank to deposit my check and well.. Never made it lol) into my account and I called for a flatbed.

Here's some pix of my jackass friends and my turd

From my terrible description... Would you guys venture to say that yes I blew the rear? Or at least busted a tooth or 2 on the gears? It blew, or whatever you wanna call it, when I slammed it into 4th so I would have to assume it's rear end related. Going through the gears while the cars off there's no issues in the tranny. Man I don't know..... Don't even know where to begin. Maybe a bad u joint? Shit we can't even pinpoint where it's coming from... Dis guy is no happy campa

We're you at least winning?

jack up the car in the rear, both off the ground. Put tranny in neutral, turn the rear wheels. Listen for noises. Never heard of killing a rear end on the highway with stock HP.

sucks but yeah you have to jack that guy up like richv said to really see where its coming from. relatively speaking, the rear is a cheaper fix than a trans or engine so hopefully that's the case.

Had some thing similar happen minus the racing part. But mine locked for a second. It was the bearing that goes on the pinion.

Probably broke a side gear in the rear end... easy fix.

And consider this a message from the universe telling you to quit wasting time racing V6s.

Weird, here's how you can tell if you blew the rear end up ;)

Yeah I beat him both pulls. Believe it or not those '14 V6's are a hell of a lot faster than they look... If I had 4.10's I probably would have killed him like my buddy Brian did today, but with 3.55's it was pretty close. He'd get the jump because he honked but I caught him in no time the first round and second go I had him the whole way.

We had a little spare tire jack in the V6 and Brian had one in his Accord (Always call him when shit goes bad lol) and we jacked it up a little and theres definitely some strange sounds when you spin the wheels... I'll get to it on Sunday maybe. Maybe later tho because I have a laundry list full of vehicles to fix and my Mustang is damn near at the bottom. I'll keep you guys posted tho

We are going to have to start calling you FrankenStang if you don't cut this out. Good luck man!

O God no haha..... But thanks man hopefully it's a quick fix

Yeah I totally agree. It's just hard to tell at 230am what the hell the problem is and where the noise is coming from. Gotta tear it all apart and figure it out

build it - race it - break it -fix it make it faster.

The quote of a lifetime Scott. If it is diff related I already decided to go with a 31 spline and axles to match :)

Dam that bearing on mine is brand freakin new. If it gave out that would mean I installed them wrong. I won't rule that out tho, I did kinda throw it together at the last minute

Right dude and if you had as little power as I have you'd be wasting your time on them too. They come out of the box with 305hp and 280tq. Mine has 260hp out of the box plus 13yrs of wear and degradation so might as well drop that to 240hp. They come stock with more torque than I have horsepower. Looks like a good match up to me.

Yes! Perfect logic. Wish for the best of luck and a quick fix.

Thanks I'm hoping it'll be quick!

Yeah I don't think mine kerplunked all the way then, because it's still driveable if you wanna listen to the sound of a sledgehammer hitting somewhere underneath it lol. Probably just a busted spider gear or something stupid. I hope..

is that Brian in the red shirt?

That it is lol

Damn and you JUST put those gears in too... Im thinkin something came loose in there!!

Yeah I mean I got 2200 on them which is a lot more than I put on those 4.10's but I too am thinking that maybe a bolt came loose from the gear ring. I guess it's a common thing when you don't use red loctite.. All I had was blue... Sealed my own fate on that one.

thats some crap ass luck

If it weren't for crap ass luck, I swear I'd have no luck at all lol

Saw your posts on FB about this last night. That sucks man. :(

Haha yeah at like 4 in the morning... It definitely sucks but thanks man I'm sure I'll get it fixed before too much longer

Mannn..Mr. Insomnia I'm sorry to hear that..I know words don't describe how you are feeling ...But I can imagine!!...I hope things turn up not so costly to fix.

Honestly man I won't lie I was only pissed for a split second because I had those 3 idiots there making me laugh the whole time. It definitely sucks, and driving my moms 05 explorer with 182 on the clock and a slipping trans REALLY sucks. Had a terrible day at work today and what I wanted to do most was just fukkin cruise in the Mustang.. Went outside and that black turd was sitting there. Better than no transportation at all tho..

Exactly man... Exactly

Easy way to tell if its the side gears is to drive it in a circle. Have someone outside the car watching the rear wheel. It will jerk around and the knock will hit a lot.

Good point. I'm hoping to not drive it tho knowing my luck I'll do more damage. I just need to find a way to get it on a trailer and take it to my warehouse and get it cracked open. I'm hoping like hell that it's rear end related and not transmission. Because I can feel it in the shifter, steering wheel, floor boards, and pedals.. probably should have included that

No kidding.. Where's he located? Doesn't say on the site. But the 440 number means it's probably close. Not many 440's around here, and I'm one of them
