Im looking at getting long tube headers and trying to figure out which would be a good brand to go with. I know BBK are good hearders and have thought about getting them. How are Pacesetter headers?

I have not heard good things about Pacesetter. I'd probably stick with BBK or MAC for a good quality/price compromise.

One of my buddies had them on his LT1 and he didn't mind them. I'm just trying to figure out if they are worth anything. Even though I'll probably stick with bbk

I ran MAC long tubes for a few years. Do yourself a favor and go to any parts store and buy two packs of Small Block Chevy header bolts from the "Hi Performance" aisle. One pack of allen heads and another of the standard 7/16" bolts. This will make tightening them down MUCH easier on yourself.

I have the mac LT's, they're very nice, but required some muscle to get the flanges to line up. Also you might have to take a ball-peen hammer and hit the pipe right at the flange to get the bolts in. A couple of the holes were physically impossible to get bolts in without slightly denting the pipe.

I have reasons why I'll never give JBA any of my money but I won't get into them here.

As for smacking the MACs with a hammer, see my previous post.

I have a 4v but I went with Flowtech which was substantially cheaper. Had them for a year now and very pleased. They are actually made by Holley.

hey Ry could you elaborate a little bit about those bolts you suggested?

Yeah man. MAC's come with just 7/16" bolts to install them and they are a HUGE pain to tighten down and access with a wrench. Get a pack of these

and a pack of these

What you can't get a wrench too, you can get an allen key in and vice versa. It maynot LOOK all that hot but its efficient. Also do even bother with the copper gaskets that come with the MACs. Get yourself a set of Mr Gasket Ultra Seals. All this is at any major parts store for dirt cheap and you'll thank yourself you did it.

ahh okay, I've had both types. They kept falling out so I have some Stage 8 locking header bolts now, installing them was a little pain in the a*s but not having to retighten them or worry about them falling out makes it all worth it. They also can use either a wrench or allen key.

The slim chance it would potentially persuade someone ELSE not to give them money with me having to elaborate into anything.
