I have been reading around and seen some say that the SN95 cars have sensitive computers in them but never explained why.as i've stated in my threads before i'm still new to these cars and i'm still learning them.I was wondering what cam you guys are using without having to really mess with tuning? also can someone explain whats so sensitive about the computers in these cars? thanks for the info guys

I was able to run my car...barely with the cam I put in it. It's unsafe and I really wouldn't do it. Take the time to save up and get a good cam, with a good tune. Well worth the money.

edit:
I didn't drive it more than a mile untuned*

Also, it is a big difference from the 4.6 to the 5.0, good point.

I ran an F cam without a tune for a few months with no issues at all. Once I tuned it I wondered how I got by without one though. Once your setup is done go and spend the money, it is well worth it.

The problem with aftermarket cams is the Lobe separation ..Aftermarket cams dont make enough vacuum at idle so the computer freaks out and the car surges ..

The stock cam has 115 my car ran perfect with a custom cam with 115 lobe Separation . The problem is when you run a cam with something under 115..

But No matter what you have to get the car tuned because even after adding H/C/I the car will not feel any faster without fixing the computers fuel curves and timing curves .. Good luck

P.S with a good tune you can make your car run great and pull hard .. I ordered a Chip from Willy at Dirty Diry Racing and he got my car spot on... Just order a Wideband air/fuel gauge and he can get your car tuned 99 % perfect for way less then most tuners ..

thanks guys my car is a 5.0 and I have a F 303 i'm wanting to run. I was told if I use a TFS stage 1 or a F cam i wouldn't need a tune at all.i'll be using a mildly ported cobra intake and refreshed iron GT40's . basicly a little better than stock set-up.see later on i'm going to add my turbo kit and I know then i'll HAVE to get a tune then but I was wanting to install my other parts and ride a little bit before hand.

Every car is different, but you'll most likely be ok with the f cam. But everything is better with a tune...

thanks, and since the F cam has a lobe separation of 114 I was told it'd do good to.i'm gonna hoold out on the tune until I install the turbo.no since getting it tuned twice I don't guess.

I was running almost the same exact setup you will be running. The F cam loves boost but for me seemed like a huge pooch NA. It was great once I got the boost going though. So my advice is not to be to let down with your combo in NA form.

Steeda #19 is a good performer and plays well with our ECUs. Have to go hunting for it though because nobody stocks them anymore

I had decent luck with the Steeda #19, some days it ran great and some days it was cranky. +1 on a tune though, otherwise it feels somewhat weak.

when you get to the point that you are spending the time and money on the cam/heads it is wise to have a tune done.

thanks guys for the input.I understand these ain't foxbodies however I didn't think that they were this ba when it came time to change things up a bit.I guess my next step will be to see what a tune will cost me when I do the H/C/I and maybe the same tuner will cut me a deal when I add the turbo to.
