Alright guys, so I finally have all the pieces in place to do my tr3650 swap, minus what oil I need to put in. I was looking to purchase the Royal Purple fully synthetic manual transmission fluid from american muscle, but at $20 a quart, that's kind of pricey. I wanted to see what you guys put in and what you recommend, or should I just go with the Royal Purple?

Sounds like it comes with ATF from factory. Mercon V ATF is full synthetic and is now the standard fluid out there.

3.2 quarts of Mercon V. That's Ford's spec.

I have the TR3650, and I tried one of the synthetic fluids (can't remember which). It became harder to shift especially in cold weather. There's no reason to use anything else. Stay with Ford on this one.

M1 is going in my axle soon, getting up to that magic 100k. How can you fill the diff if you're not on a lift, are those Auto Zone siphons worth it?

Also did you need to add friction modifier? From what I know, some you do but others you don't have to?

Not sure what kind they sell at AZ but yes, with a fluid pump you can easily fill the diff on jackstands. I used royal purple in my rear and even though people say it has friction modifier in it the guy who dd my gears said to add one bottle of the ford additive, this guy really knows his ford rear end so I happily paid a couple bucks for it.

i put RP in my drivetrain, personally. at $20.00 a qt. its pricey, but you only need to change it every 1,000,000,000 miles or whatever.

Syncromesh!! Tried and true by gearheads for years. Thats what will be going into my 3650 as soon as I find a garage to do it in...

You can get it from GM or Pennzoil makes an exact copy @ 9.99 a quart.

Pennzoils copy is just as good and a lot cheaper.
