and dang! how does a dash even crack this bad?? if i make one wrong move i could fall into one of those cracks and never be seen again!

and here is what it looks like naked..

and then i found this... its a piece of bone. it was hidden inside the dash, where a speaker should have been..

i then realized the previous owner was a serial killer!! omg! ya know, he talked about his son a lot, but i never saw him. hmmm... oh well!

the bone is about the size of the palm of my hand.. its a broken off piece of something big lol!
and as far as the dash goes, i found a local-ish guy with a cover.. i dont know if you have seen them, but its a hard plastic shell that fits over the existing dash.. his had a/c so its got an opening in the center, that ill use to mount a couple gauges.. seeing that my car doesnt have a/c, ill have to cut out an opening in my dash.. but its not like i can make it look worse lol!

well i decided to try out a rust remover on the mustang to see if it would help cut down on the sanding..

it didnt help on time at all lol! but it did convert the rust to a paintable surface, if it wasnt for all the pitting at least.
another setback was it took almost a whole bottle of naval jelly to do half of my hood.

went and got my dash cover the other day.. i'm really happy with it. it's thin, but fits really well!

and the guy i got it from used to race a 65 mustang back in the 70s.. he said it was a race series similar to the american iron series of today. he raced at road atlanta in nostalgic races up until last year. he has a lot of old race stories and a million pics of the "good ol" days.. it was really cool meeting him.

back to the build, i got my old dash all mocked up to cut. it still needs alot of work to get the high spots out of the cracks before i put the cover on.

Love this build. Makes me want to go finish my motor swap in the 67 and do some real work to her.
