My 94 has ford motorsport headers, an off road h-pipe, (formerly flomaster 40s) now Magnaflow magnapacks and the K&N FIPK. My problems have been around since I bought the car jeezz... back in 1997 (even with the flowmasters)?
My car has pinged in the past, idling around in a car lot it will load up and take off like a bat out of H--- and ping at the same time.... The rest of the time it could be beat by a 1.3l honda civic 4dr.... The check engine light comes on about 30sec after starting the car every time I drive it....
I have tried all the small things, like cleaning all the sensors, resetting the computer with no resolve.
My friend has a Mac Tools Maximizer analyzer that we plugged into the car a couple times..... Every time we get the same codes, 181:Adaptive Fuel rich limit reached at part throttle, right side, 189: Adaptive Fuel rich limit reached, left side, 332: Insufficient EGR valve opening detected... So, I would imagine that the EGR valve would need to be replaced? Who Knows? I only drive the car a couple times a year, but I would love for the car to be up to 100%..... I am tired of driving a dog....

What should I do? What do you think might be wrong?

Should I take it to my local ford dealer?

it's not going to be the o/r h because It was happening when he only had the flowmasters

so everytime you've started the car since 1997 the check engine light comes on lol? :D

um if it's pointing to the egr I wouldn't worry about replacing it, just buy an egr delete kit, all the egr does is recirculate unburned fuel back into the throttle body and decrease power from what I understang they're like $20

CEL was on before the O/R H-pipe..... When I bought the car it had the K&N filter kit and a flowmaster exhaust...... And the light was coming on then?

I did put the plug in.... but no change.... I haven't put the maximizer on it yet with the plug in though, so I don't know if it killed that code?

put the whole thing on, I'd try that first and then we'll see how that works. If it doesn't I would probably say o2 sensor :?

What is your timing set at? If you are to far advanced it will cause the engine to ping. Sometimes the simple things are overlooked.

so you put both brand new O2 sensors in, and the CEL plug with the block off plate and it still shows the info?
shut off the CEL, and see if it comes back on.

hes already turned off the CEL he said i think.

and when you add a cold air kit and exhaust mods it can still play with your a/f ratios whether you add off road products or not (or so ive been told by a shop here in dallas). when he put his off road pipe on, it just made it a lot worse because no cats. my AF ratio was off before my o/r H was on and i only had 2 chamber flowies and a cold air kit.
