i was thinking about goin with dss pistons does anybody have any experince with them? im also reading there are forged pistons in fox blocks from the factory how much do the run and would they stand up to say a 125 or 150 shot or does any body know where to get a decent set of forged pistons for less than 500 bucks?

you are wasting your money unless you NEED to get a new pistons. the stock rotating assembly will take a lot more power then the block.

if you want a decent piston on a budget get srp

u dont even need forged pistons for nitrous

Need no, smart yes.

Detonation will fvck up a set of cast/hypereutectic pistons faster than a forged set.

Hyper seal better and are lighter so there are pro's/con's with them, just like everything else.

if you put the right head gasket on it the gasket will go before you hurt hard parts. now if you do something stupid well thats on you but there is no need to put aftermarket pistons in for a rebuild unless the bore need to be opened more then a set of rings would fix

Uness you are abusing the hell outta the engine (road course, heavy power adder, etc) then cast is fine. I put forged in mine cuz i beat on it relentlessly on the road course, and didnt wanna have a piston shatter on me. any 5.0L HO block from mid 91 and earlier with a black oil pan will have forged pistons. they will say TRW on the bottom, inside the skirt.

its mid 92 down and the black pan is a myth. my 93 had a black oil pan

You can pick up the forged fox pistons for around 50 - 100$ used of course. Unless there is somthing wrong with your stock pistons, you can save that couple of bucks for somthing else.
