Getting ready to put a new clutch in my 1994 Gt. It seems the factory one is not holding above 5k so I suppose a new one will work a bit better. Looking into Centerforce unless someone has a better recommendation. I know I need the actual clutch and pressure plate and throwout bearing. Anything else? Also does the throwout bearing have to be matched to the clutch?

it's good practice to get the flywheel turned, also it's a good idea to replace the throw out bearing and pilot bearing while everything is apart. I wouldn't use the TOB that comes in the clutch kit, buy a high quality one.

That would be better than the ones that come in the clutch kit, I went with a Timken cause I figure if they don't know bearings then who would lol. People have had luck with other brands too, hopefully someone can chime in.

Excellent, can you make any clutch recommendation with that sexy car of yours?

haha thanks man, I have Spec stage 2 but i feel its a bit much for a head/cam car. Centerforce Dual Friction seems to be a great clutch, and the one i drove in a fox wasn't half as heavy as my Spec. What are your future plans?

So far untuned HCI, Id like to eventually do a centri or a hairdryer but thatll be a bit away. Im honestly not sure its my clutch I just know that above 5000rpms it starts to spin but the car slow or stops(hesitates) and i hear really bad chatter.

Centerforce is a good clutch up into the 300 rwhp range, Towards the top of that range some people have had problems with the lining's coming apart, myself included. A spec Stage 2 is a good clutch, the 2+ is even better.
As for your 2 being stiff pedal, try using a steeda adjuastable cable, my 3+ feels like a 4 cyl clutch, so that doesn't sound normal to me, but that's just me not having felt the pedal.
TOB make sure it is a steel one, and not the plastic/steel combo, it will be obvious when you look at it, the plastic is very visable and is what slides on the bearing retainer of the trans. No they do not have to be matched with the clutch, but spec sends you a new one and a new pilot bearing with each clutch so factor that in, and you can specify a steel bearing when you order.

Michael your always here to lend a hand. I have a buddy with a spec 2 in his car and he likes it. I don't sit in traffic often so a tad heavier feel won't hurt my feelings.

I've heard many horror stories about aftermarket cables being weaker than OEM cables so I won't be switching. I felt a Spec stg1 and I thought it was heavier than my stg2 so maybe that's just how Specs go lol.

I learned the whole oem vs adjustable clutch thing early in the game. I already have a MM quadrant and firewall adjuster, as well as another oem cable just in case. Always prepared.
