What would you do. Defective Longtubes

So I ordered some BBK Long tubes from summit a couple months ago. Been rebuilding my Transmission so I just got them in yesterday. The Passenger side header is tweaked out. The flange on the bottom looks welded wrong and the whole bottom looks out of line anyway. I cant get the mid pipe to line up for anything. Took me an hour of prying with a 18 inch breaker bar just to get the flange to touch the studs on the Long tube and its no where close to sealing.

Called up summit and they are gonna send me some to replace them but I still feel like I got shafted. These are NOT that easy to get in and between going to school full time and working its hard to find time where I still have light out. So instead of being on the road RIGHT now I have to wait til tomorrow to get them back and then wait until I have time to get them back in. I asked for some kind of compensation in the form of getting ceramic or some money back for my trouble and time and got told tough luck take it up with bbk.

What would you guys do? Should I even attempt to work something out with bbk or am I up shit creek with no paddle?

Get MAC CC they fit right in,Plus they are in CA and you might be able to pick them up your self.

I could, I just got rid of my old BBK shortys that had the individual flange and I hated them I cant go to a header that has those. Plus I heard that Mac and BBK mid pipes dont like to fit all that great together :dunno: . I thought you were going BBK javi did you switch to the Mac?

Yes, I have MAC CC 1 5/8's.






Very pleased so far.I have Bassani X pipe now.i got rid of the H pipe. :p

I have bbk longtubes, they fit fine and looked good. my midpipe wouldn't fit either. I took it to an exhaust shop and had them bend it.


i could've stretched it out to fit, it was only off about 3 inches, but the fit wasn't right for the exhaust cutout in the transcrossmember on the drivers side. it was pretty much where the crossmember actually bolted up.

Only problem is most shops around here wont touch my exhaust because the mid has no cats and the Long tubes are not legal. They already would not touch my old x pipe.

you need to find some cool muffler shop.

The muffler shop i go to doesnt care about me having no cats. I either use 1 of 2 excuses.

#1. *Remove Plate First* "Its a Track car, it doesnt see the street"

#2. " I Was driving on the freeway and i hit a bump and they just fell off"

i use the excuse that, "if youre going to make me put them back on to get inspected, im just going to take them back off 5min later, so youre just wasting my time making me do this".

I had the same issue and went straight thru BBK. They even sent me a X-pipe for longtubes and i turned around and sold it. Because i used a piece of 18" pipe an DYnomax race bullets..

You won't get any more satisfation by going to BBK. Take what they give you and walk away. All you will do is get pissed off, and still get nothing extra. Except a migraine.

never thought of choice one.. brilliant..
