So i have a buddy who just acquired a wrecked fox that has a Holley systemax intake and heads, along with a set of Hooker shorty headers. He told me if i wanted them for my current 302, he would trade them to me for my 351W and the Tranny i got, plus $350. I can' swing the $350, so i said what about $250 and the engine and tranny... he said he'd think about it. what do you guys think? my 351 project is coming along so slowly, cause i have no money to put into it... where as with the intake and heads i can put them on the 302 with a new cam, and have it all tuned. THAT i can afford. should I make the trade? what would you guys do? I want to build the 351, but can't afford it right now. My buddy can... the 302 i already have, it already runs, and i could have the money for the new tune before i even got the new parts installed.
not to mention i've already got the 70mm throttle body, a CAI, and the elbow for the intake(got that in a deal that included the TB) would you guys build what i can afford now, or hold onto the 351, and build it over time... I figured i can find a 351 in the condition it's in now, for less than i paid for the complete engine... so i could always do that later down the road... not to mention the wife and I are thinking about trying for kid #2, so that would mean the 351 would take even longer... HELP!? I need opinions. i'm leaning towards the heads/cam/headers...

351 is a great idea but coming along as a pita. id take the trade. and turn that newish 302 into a monster. and you have the heads if the ones on it arent worth a poo. my opinion homie.

I would trade for now. Build the 351 when you get the money down the road. Hell, 351's should be as plentiful in Texas as they are in Alabama.

So it looks like i'm leaning towards the 302... i'm waiting for Paul's imput. lol... not only that, but my buddy is wheeling and dealing with the guy fr the car. I'm sure he'll get it. the guy is military and he's about to leave to head back to Florida so he needs it gone. it's wrecked so all it's good for is parts...
I just wonder what i'll make with hooker equal length headers, Holley Systemax intake and heads, and an aftermarket cam(undecided) that will all pair with my 70mm TB, CAI, and 3:90 gears... plus my buddy has a C&L 73mm MAF and 24# injectors

Jason is dumb... LOL... you have a 4.6, you need 4.10's... 3.73's aren't steep enough for you. is your car an auto? if so, even more so... I've got 3.90s... Mine are lower than the 4.10's, becuase that will put my car in it's power band for the longest amount of time, letting me get the most out of my setup...

hahah yeah i do have an auto so i NEED my 4.10s
basically the way i tried to explain it to him and my dad was that 4.10s in an auto are like 3.73s in a stick...
they both kept tellin me no don't ever get 4.10s they are tooo big and 3.73s would be the highest to go but 3.55s are better..

i was like... you won't really feel much of a difference.... i want to be into my powerband faster...

I'd take that deal in a heartbeat.

I now feel complete... LOL... Brian... Dont' listen to your dad or Jason, no offense to your dad(jason will get over it) with a 4.6L auto, you NEED 4.10's. Where you going to get your gears installed? i found a guy here in Norfolk, or chesapeake, can't remember, if yo uhave the gears, fluid and friction modifier, he'll do the gears for $200

My friends dad said he would do it for $100 or I know a guy with a shop who can do it for like $150-$200 but i'm not trying to spend extra money to get them in. I'm just waiting on the guy to get his paypal all setup so i can send the money and he can send me the stuff (Brand new FRPP 4.10s, rebuild/bearing/install kit *not sure which one it is* and speedo gear) for $230 shipped

Ask your friends dad if he would do mine!!! My best friends dad said he'd do it for a case of budlight, but he's in Houston. LOL
I've had my Gears since deployment. I bought them for myself Christmas of '06, and STILL have them, not installed...
