A Nikon D3000 is a good bang for you buck.
I got my Fujifilm DSLR about 7 years ago for $300 through amazon (its now on amazon for $1500).

You have to know where to look.

Also, the way you take pictures will ultimately determine how good they turn out.
You can produce a better photo with an iphone 5 than an idiot holding a $1500 DSLR.

Yeah i'll just have to keep looking around.

It will be a little while before i pick one up.

I think the modifications come first in my book lol

No point having a BA camera if your car isn't what you want it to be...

I have a nice little Samsung that records HD video, and takes 16MP pictures. Got it for $40.

Here's the first two pics I took with it after turning it on for the first time:

And then one earlier the day of my accident.

I love my Canon HS310 it does all you are asking for & more! Checkout the specs & it is reasonable in price!

Here is a photo with my older Canon SD1000 the new Canon Elph HS 310 is only better!

I currently have a Nikon Coolpix P510, pretty much the same specs as the cam you posted except with 42x zoom. It has a load of features, so many in fact that I purchased a 2,000 page ebook to describe what each and every one is, and when to use it. As stated early, it is truly about learning how and when to use each individual setting for the best results. Keep in mind also, most social hosting websites reduce image resolution to cut down on the file size stored on their servers.I dont have any pics with vibrant colors popping, but these can give you and idea.

I have a sony 16 Mp point n shoot that I have been really happy with both for stills and video. I also liked that it has a panoramic option similar to how the iphones works but I would imagine they all do that now. Its in the garage now I will get the model number later.

+1 for the coolpix series i had one in iraq during convoys and it worked well in all conditions. even the night shots through NVG's worked well :)

might sound crazy but the gopro hero's take amazing video and really good pics as well. and you can get a 2 series for like 100 bucks now.

and speaking of the pics above. Did you run Route clearing team (if so thanks!) and where is that? im thinking Kabul region. never seen a lick of nice grass in iraq.

The pics were taken in the Helmand Province heading out to Khandar. We run convoy security, but Im in the scout truck so I get to clear the path for everyone behind us. Always a good time poking and prodding dead animals and trash with the mine roller. The first pic was actually taken running 45 mph down a rough road from the gun turret, a testament to the image stabilization the coolpix has when not zoomed out to 42X. I actually use the camera quite a bit to keep a watchful eye on subjects too far away for our 10x binos.
