Which gear ratio will do me best in the long run

lol well a 500hp isnt a stock or era correct number for our cars hahah, with that much power by all means my friend do all the walking over fire kittens and vetties you want

I sold the Road Runner for stupid money and replaced it with the GT. Occasionally have regrets, but not very often!

If you go the PI swap route, 3.73's will get you to that power band. Boost doesn't favor steeper gears as you'd always be shifting, so 3.55's would be better suited.

I'd think if your going to be going turbo I wouldn't go beyond 3.55 even 3.08 and if your just going to do power add ons and not running the quarter daily I'd go 3.73,think ford racing makes a 3.08 for 8.8 rear that would also be good with turbo,that's MOPO on this.

Psssst...None of these guys have it right. 5.4l 2v swap it, 2.73 rear, 4spd automatic along with a real nice turbo setup. Run E85 and never worry about over heating!

It really comes down to what you want.. Tire size , boost or na, type of FI.. Type of trans and ratios...

Lol...

I read back a few posts someone saying higher compression means no more pump gas....not true. Also you can run boost with a pi swap but limit it, 8lbs on a pi swap would work great and be alot of fun.....


or you can go the 5.4 route
