Making power? Longtubes.

Ease of use and maintenance? Shorties. By a mile.

what do you think is better shorty or long tube headers?

I actually went with equal length bassani headers. sort of the best of both worlds... that's the idea anyways. In all honesty I just wanted a full bassani system and that was what was available.

If this is going on a stock 5.0 be ready for a drop in torque though.

About the thousandth time I posted this. I am only going to do Cliff Notes version now.

"In the begining" there were headers. They were what you refer to as long tubes. They were used on race cars of all kinds as well as land speed record attempt vehicles. That's what headers were and always shall be.

In the early 1980's Ford created the "shorty" header for the Mustang GT in order to be able to advertise "Factory Headers" as a marketing ploy. Better than cast manifolds, but still not the performance of real headers.

Shorties are easier to put on and cheaper to make than real headers. This is the reason for their popularity, not real performance.
