Pretty sure the cobra is sold and should have cash in hand tues so now deciding what to get. Now i will be dding the replacement. Got a 40 mile roundtrip to work. I am going to get snow tires and throw some weight in the trunk (i have a pickup for when its really shitty out). Right now looking at a 91 notch and an 84 svo.

here is the 91 notch. 160k stock 5.0 and auto. car was repainted and new headlights tailights etc. motor/tranny is untouched and no mods. asking $2500. Always been a notch fan and it looks really good.

now the 84 svo turbo. 110k miles. guy pulled the motor to turn into drag car. motor is complete and everything is there i just would need to drop it back in (pry do a clutch since its a lot easier to do it now then later). says the turbo flange leaks some. has a lil rust around the wheel wells/lower quarters. asking $900. figure if i decide down the road to sell it i can come out ahead. i would have a fairly rare and turbo car would be cool. Little better mpg compared to the 5.0 Seems there are some pretty good cheap/easy mods to get more power outta the turbo 4 cyl also. gonna have 3-4 days to get the motor back in it and running. figure if all else fails i can pick up a cheap ass car to get by with till its running if need be

Comes with the stock svo hood (its sitting on the roof in the pic) and not the cowl hood. Some rust on the rear fenders. Have better pics of it on my phone.

So what do you guys think?

91 notch i would say. altho i think the svo is rarer, so maybe that could be more valuable for you. also i think there was no stock 5.0 notch. somebody swapped it sometime in its life

svo is by far a rarer production car which is part of the appeal. And yes there were 5.0 notches

hm well i didnt know that. guess you do learn somethin new everyday. ya i like those svos, but i like the notches way better. and that one in the pic looks pretty clean. but for the price, that svo is a steal

+1 on 5.0 Notches...
But id get the SVO just for it being rare. Unless you dont want the headache of putting all back together then go with the notch

That is a tough decision.
I like the notch better because it's ready to go now.
3 days to put the SVO back together could be a problem if you missing anything.
You could hold out for a 5 speed fox. With the right gears I have heard them getting near 30mpg's highway.

I would hold out for a 5spd notch. Both of these seem like a big downgrade from what you have now.

basically is the point. I am gonna have 4k left after selling mine and i need some living expenses so my budget is 3k and i need a car immediately

The only thing making me hesitate about the svo is getting it running in time. even though i could pick up a cheap ass car to get around in if need be. ill pry have thursday through sun to get it running (full days) then i will have to come back home for work mon.

I always have loved notches and wanted one (if it was black couldnt resist lol) but the svo turbo would be cool fun and rare i think. both have pros/cons and they are basically the same distance

SVOs are cool but for what you're looking at, I'd scoop up the Notch. Hell, try and talk both of the guys down and pick up both. Notch for daily and SVO to tinker with.

yeah i have thought about that too. then i got to thinking would make more sense to get the svo and then get a cheap ass dd that gets 30 mpg.

maybe could get the svo for 600 and the notch for 2100. hmmmmmm

Or that too. Cheap ass honda for around $1k, have a little money left to put into the SVO.

thats what im thinking. go pick up the svo try and get it running and if dont look like i will in time wont be hard to find a car for under 1k in a hurry.

i love notches. but i really love the "cool factor" of the svo even though the body aint nearly as nice as the notch. find someone who does bodywork on the side for extra $$ and hang out and learn the trade which i always have had an interest in

Honestly...I wouldn't pick either one. Especially for a Daily Driver...driving 40 miles a day back and forth to work is going to be hell. I hated my 60 mile round trip commute in my stang...thats why I got my TL.

But if you must choose...I vote the white notch.

It's about what you can afford. If you can afford to buy the SVO and another car and still have the SVO as a project, why are you selling your cobra for living expenses?

I am behind on bills. I have had an issue with work (construction) the last 2-3 months. i moved this fall. I found a job and he was supposed to have plenty of work to keep me busy fulltime. About a month in shit fell through and lost jobs he had planned on. For the last 2-3 months helping a few different guys but usually was lucky to get half a week of work in a week and i have been scraping by. I was hired by the biggest company in the area and start the 31st so now this will not be an issue as i will be putting in 40 hrs a week. And i do not drive the cobra hardly through the winter because of the 315 drs and the pickup sucks gas horribly so cant afford to dd it. gonna get some snow tires and throw weight in the trunk and i will be fine except for a few major storms here and there then i will take the pickup

So by selling the car i will get out of my hole, wont have a car payment and will not have to pay for full coverage insurance and be able to put 3k into vehicle(s) and have plenty of money to get by till paychecks start coming in. As long as i get the svo running and feel its dependable to dd then i wont be getting anything else now.
