Building up a 4v is not going to be cheap by any means be prepared to spend some big bucks. Are you trying to reach a Certain ET time ??? What kinda power are you trying to make? Is it for a DD? You can still expect to spend a good amount of money on just buying a 4v motor and doing to swap.

if all else fails just get some better rods and pistons for your block, and put some 4v heads on it! lol then you'll have the strength of the iron block, but the power of the 4v heads

but if you are set on building a motor on the side, I would go with getting a 98 Mark VIII motor, and build that. Pistons, rods, and intake, and you are set to go!

well i just figured that building a 4v would be cheaper than buying a cobra right out. i know its goin to cost a lot. it would be for my DD.

What do you have to do to run 4v heads on a 2v GT? And If you are swaping ina Mark 8 motor what all is needed besides the motor?

that depends on whether you want better than the stock rotating assembly.

I guess you could build the motor either way.

i would like the most power i could get N/A and still be streetable since it is my DD.

The most power you could get NA would entail cams (4 of them) headwork, exhaust, and I would recommend changing your ring gear to a higher ratio.
You may want to consider the stock 4V which flows pretty good, and a small centrifigal blower.
that would be comprable in cost, and give you more power.
you'd still be streetable and more fun than NA.

would a stock 4v like a 96-98/99-01 internals be able to hold up to a blower? sorry for the dumb ?'s i just dont know much about the 4v.

along with the heads, you would need the 4v timing cover, and the brackets/accessories to fit

yes, the stock 4V motor can safely take up to the 430HP range.
tuned for boost obviously.

Much past that and you risk breaking the rods, and have to look at replacing other things like the rear axles, transmission etc.

Building a 400+ ci OHV motor. :grin: You only need one cam to make power! LOL

The 96-98 Cobra engines can handle 8-10lbs of boost on a safe tune. I think you are better off buying a Cobra. After you buy the engine( if you get a lincoln engine it is about $1000.00 Cobra engines are more.)and build it and all you will have minimum 4-5 k into it, thats probably doing it on the cheap. Good cams are $1200-$1400 alone.

You can get a decent 96-98 Cobra for 6-8k.
