Why are so many off you scared to install stuff on your car? There are threads about cost to install cams, cost install x pipe, cost to install supercharger.

If you are having to pay somebody to install shit, why not save that money and get yourself a good set of hand tools, 4 good jackstands and a good jack and get out there and start wrenching on your car and learning about instead of taking it to the "pros" who are only going to take your money.
well, personaly im not scared, i just have one car though so down time = bad, cant wait till i get a second car, hopefully another sn95 4.6L GT, either that or a 240sx or miata.

the reason i might want another, pretty much the same car is my current one is planned to be for the track, so if i wreck this one badley i swap the parts i invested. being a begining drifter, chances of that arnt low, lol.

I guess i have it pretty nice. I'm 18, and taking an automotive class at the local community college that my school district pays for. So I can bring in my car almost every day for class, and learn how to work on it all with 3 Auto Tech's who know damn well what they are doing.

After class, my car is there 3 outta 5 days a week usually. And theres lifts and tons of tools. I can do anything in there except for exhaust mods or suspension mods (liability)

So me and matt are putting in my springs, and H pipe in a driveway

I do all my own stunts work by myself (or with some guys who know nothing about cars, who are just there for me to say "lift this" or "hold that"). So far that includes shocks/struts, springs, mid-pipe, fuel pump (pita). I did have a couple mechanically inclined friends help me with my pi intake swap though.

This weekend/next week I'm going to be doing my PI swap mostly by myself. I just turned 17, am using a borrowed impact gun and a $30 tool set (+ some odds and ends from my dad's set). I didn't even know how to change oil at this time last year. :thumb: Though I do usually have someone else change the oil, simply because we always get these coupons for $15 oil changes. I'm lazy, oil + filter costs more than that... why not?

Cheers

I am going to do that after I graduate my current college. I'm only going to take the classes just do take them to learn more and get more "experience" and all for my personal use. Not going to persue anything in that field though.

Well shit, i have a shop and a lift and there are only two things i won't try. one is gears and the other tranny work. Those things are beyond me and i don't want to mess something up for instance with gears .... you set them wrong and they start whinning and they are bad... need new gears and boom there goes another ~300/400 dollars for some polished and lightened gears. But hey, its no biggy

I am 18 I do all of my own work on my garage floor and some at school. This is the second time my engine has been out of my car. I have p&p my heads and installed them. When I first got the car i did 3:73's and a new clutch without even knowing what I was doing, that was the week after I turned 17.

It's probably one of the best decisions you can make. Since my highschool doesn't have an automotive class, if you are eligible, they let you apply to take automotive, get college and highschool credits, and its free.

I have learned so much, its really unbelievable.
