Will a termi T56 fit??

Wanting to convert to a T56 because I HAATTEE T-5's. Will a T56 out of the termi's work? What all will I need?

new yoke
shorter drive shaft

more to it but thats just a short list that i can recall off the top of my head

no it wont work. the 4.6 T56 bell housings are one piece with the trans housing.

So even if I got a new bellhousing it wouldn't work?

like i said the bell housing is one piece with the trans housing, it's not like you can just change the bell housing.

here is what you'll need:

custom trans crossmember or move the crossmember mounts
transmission mount (if the trans doesnt have one on it)
quick time makes a bell to install the T56 on a windsor block.
i dont think you'll need to change the clutch unless the t56 had the input shaft upgraded to 26 spline (which is a good idea!)
you'll need a driveshaft specific to this application or to modify the length and install the correct yoke on it
shifter (MGW all the way!)

not sure if anything needs to be done to the speedometer cable.

AMP Performance sells a T56 swap kit for 94-95 Mustangs for a little over 3K.

I think you are thinking of the 96+ 5 speeds (t45, 3650, etc..) that are all one piece...
The T5, TKO, and T56 all have separate bellhousings from the trans housing.

If I can use the T56 out of an 03/04 Cobra than thats what I'll be looking for since they'll be cheaper than buying a brand new tranny.

yes, biggest hurdle is the bell, price of trans and the custom cross member that you'll have to make

Just buy a used 3550 or TKO500.

Why?

The TKO 500 will take more abuse. If your willing to go through the BS of doing a T56, get viper spec.
