will this rear end fit my car

ive got a buddy that has a older turbo t bird coupe that has the factory 3.73 gears in a 8.8 i was wondering if it would bolt up under my 96 gt i know ill have to swap axles.. But he would sell it to me for dirt cheap and has low miles on this wrecked car... Im thinking it would but let me know what you guys thank..

depending on brakes,abs sensors,arms, E-brake cable and such.

well its like a 86 or 88 not sure i know its just like the foxes and has 4 lug and drums but i know i took a quick look and the way it mounts up is the same as mine.. So i dont mind swaping stuff since i wont have to pay for new gears and the time to put them in...Plus its a hush hush mod that know one will know about from where im from...lol

79-98 rear ends are ALL THE SAME, the difference comes into play with brakes and axles. The housings and mounting points are all the same. I say get it and swap all of your parts on and it will be fine. Idid the same thing and I had no problems up till the day I pulled it out to put my built one in

your going to spend how long swapping all that around when you could just spend the same amount just doing gears to your car. seems like extra work for an old rear that you don't know the condition of the posi....

Agreed you would be better off just swapping in 3.73's the time it's going to take you your going to wish you had just bought gears and new clutch packs and had them installed. Yeah its going to cost more money but it would be worth it for the time factor.

the car has less than 30k on it... its a 88 and it got wrecked and has been in the back of this guys shop for along time...lol thanks for the info guys ill know more when he gets stuff moved around...
