I am about to be in the market for a new clutch and I have been doing some reading. They are saying you can actually gain torque up to (600 ftlb) because it applies centrifigul force to the pressure plate as RPM's increase. On Zoom's website they are saying that the ZVT is in the works for the mustang market, but on summit I can order it now. Anybody know anything about this? Check it out and tell me what you think....

You can ORDER it but it says it won't ship until the 21st...and even that doesn't mean it will ship then. Trust me. What you're looking at with that clutch is like a centerforce dual friction. The clutch's fingers have "weights" on them that when the RPMs go up...the centrifugal force of the weights creates a prying force on the fingers increasing the clamping force against the clutch disc. I honestyl think there are better options out there. I run a Clutchmasters stage 3 and love it. Never misses a beat. Easy throw, zero chatter, and hasn't slipped ever. 600ftlbs holding capacity.

which model would I use if I went with a clutchmasters. 600+ sounds like what I need. I have a Zoom stage 3 and I love the holding power it just makes to much noise and I think it's starting to lose it's edge. Also do you know where I can find a neutral balance steel flywheel?....Thanks

Mine is a 26 spline input shaft so the clutch that I run is different than what you'd need. You would have to call directly to clutchmasters i'd say to get a part number for the 10 spline input shaft. What kind of noise is your Zoom making? Are you sure it isn't just a throw out bearing? As for the flywheel...why do you want a neutral balance flywheel? You cannot just slap it on a motor with a 50oz imbalance and call it a day. The motor has to be internally neutral balanced.

The noise is normal chatter, and something else. If I put it in gear and rev it, at around 3 grand, it makes makes a noise I can't describe and I feel a rapid vibration through the shifter. but it doesn't do it when I am driving regularly, however it will do it sometimes when I am in reverse, and when I pull it out of gear and release the clutch it goes away.
I need a neutral balance flywheel because that's what the harmonic balancer is. I had my balancer, flywheel, and crank balanced before I assembled my motor. The harmonic balanceris a SFI approved neutral weight balancer. The flyweel was stock, but they took enough out to match a neutral balance flywheel. I spoke with the balancer and he said the best thing to do was to get a neutral balance flywheel. I think my problem is being caused by the flywheel/clutch. When I was installing the clutch on to the flywheel, I managed to snap a housing bolt off...So I had to drill and tap it, and it wasn't cooperating, I did my best to make it work..I put threadlock on it, and torqued it and it held, but I think it must have failed. The only reason I didn't get a new flywheel at the time was because of the balancing and blueprinting that took 2 weeks was gonna take longer because I would have to order a flywheel wait for it to arrive and I already assembled my motor completely, so i would have had to dissasemble it again and go through all that again. I have the balance sheet somewhere, so I am gonna look for that and see exactly how much they took out, and to make sure I order the right one.
