v6 vs v8 transmission

I went to the junkyard and got a 4r70w from a 97 v6 mustang. mine is a 98 GT. Will it work with my car?

No. The bell housing is wrong. It’s the wrong bolt pattern and the starter bolt pattern is wrong.
What about a 4r70w in a 96’ GT. Im assuming the belling housing matches up but will it be plug and play with my 98’ ?

Not entirely. The electronics in the 98 are different. For the 96 to work, you’ll need solenoids and internal transmission wiring harness for a 98. Then pull the valve body down to swap it all over.

Yea the v6 trans still had the old pushrod bellhousing pattern.

Hey what about an automatic from a 99 or 2000 GT? You know, just trying to figure out what will work to open up availability.... would they swap in easy? No electronics swapping and such?

Valve body would be alright, but the output speed sensor is wrong. Vss opposed to Oss. I think you have to install a converter box to make it work.
