01 cobra help??

ok so my friend just got an 01 cobra yellow with black saleens. under wot it will start to sway back and forth, to the point were you think it is going to lose control. it goes it almost ever time this is in a straight line to not going around a corner. we think it could be a bad shock? we are both somewhat new to the irs well on mustangs. could the irs have bad bushings that could cause this i wouldent think but it could be. the car has a brand new motor all stock except exhaust. any help is much appreciated!

I would start looking at the suspension. Take a look at the bushings on that IRS. Check for any play in the rear wheels. Check the front end as well. Can't hurt to look.

I would check the steering rack bushings and all the suspension in general. You should be able to find out what's wrong just by looking everything over.

where is the shimmy from? front or rear? sloppy bushings have this affect. also, look at the sway bars and irs carriage. too many attach/moving points. put your hands on the bushings and feel for give.

i know this is basic but have an alignment done...its just a start mustang had terrible wander and weave got an alignment and it disapeared
