So I Recently purchased an 04 Cobra terminator spoiler and am going to be getting a 03 Cobra front bumper soon. The problem is they are not the color of my Mach 1. I have never painted or preped anything. What are some tips, product i could use or information that could help me out. Thanks

just have it done if you want it to come out nice..you can prep it yourself with some direction but if you want it to look good in the end youre better off having someone else spray it.....unless you can hold off on it and get some practice in on some scrap first

so your parts list for paint is:

front bumper
fender
hood
deck lid
spoiler

is the spoiler glass or plastic? idk about those..never done work on them

the following is assuming everything is painted and not new..if any part is new please say so and ill give youdifferent directions
front bumper - scuff with red scuff pad until completely dull (when you clean it there will still be a sheen to it but there's a difference between sheen and shine) be careful not to go thru your edges (unless you plan on priming it) and to move along when a spot is scuffed

fender and deck lid - throw some 600 on a DA and get to work..be careful of your edges (unless you plan to prime) and whatever you have a problem getting with a DA you'll use a red scuff pad.....same thing as the bumper with sheen/shine/moving along

hood (assuming its glass) - prep the same way as the fender/deck lid but be very careful not to go thru cuz you dont want a reason to have to do any fiberglass work..although youd really have to dig in to get to that point i still figured i'd say something about it

spoiler - x2 as hood if its fiberglass but i would simply use a scuff pad for it..no need for a DA cuz youll probably just burn thru before you know it with the area you're working with

Hey whippy you should write up a Paint Tutorial. I know Id like to learn. I bought a decent air tool setup and it came with what seems like a nice little paint gun. I know it wouldnt do a show quality paint job but would work for redoing my front bumper.

yeah maybe i will......and yeah those cheap little guns are great for small stuff..i wouldnt do anything big with them but i have a mini gun that i use for tinting lights and whatnot that was cheap and it does the job nicely..plus it saves the seals in my nice guns

Yeah thats what I was figuring too. I know I can lay the paint no problem. I can lay it down nice with a spray can(lol) so I figure with a little practice Id do alright on a bumper. Just dont know the steps on doing it. Im sure I could go youtube something but I thought itd be a good write up for the site.

ok chris you got your write up..ill work on it and probably put it up 2mor..i wouldnt wanna see you do something you couldve avoided with my help......with the cheaper guns the one thing you wanna watch out for is the fan can be uneven and youll get streaks so be sure you do a few test sprays before you paint to make sure you dont have a bullseye or figure 8

EDIT: hang on im looking for example pics for those that dont know what i mean by figure 8/bullseye

good fan pattern -

figure 8 (too much air causes the paint to stay away from the middle..think of it like squeezing the end of a garden hose..too much and it'll shoot out of the sides)

narrow fan pattern -
