My 94 Mustang 5.0 great ran great on the back roads for about 2 hours, then started to die while I was still driving, finally stalled out. It would then start for about 30sec., then die. Had it towed to a quality garage. When they went to test it, it started right up and ran great for 20 minutes. They did a complete diagnostic on it and found nothing wrong. $100 later, I drove it 20 miles home with no problems. Still no answer to why it died. Any suggestions to what to look for or why it died in the first place would be appreciated.

Either a fuel pump or distributor. Our cars are notorious for the pip module going out which would cause the exact problem you described.

Check fuel pressure first and see if it’s holding steady and if it’s fine then I’d say you probably need a new dizzy (distributor)

What they said AND you should check the connector for the ignition coil. Those are notorious for corrosion and the pins pulling out of the housing.
