the heads were going to be sent out to have a lill moddding done to them, meanwhile the seats were goin to be kissed, seals replaced, and ohh, have them machined for actual cam bearings.

Re: shaggys 4.6 swap.

ehh to each thier own all the guys i know in the area have 347's or built up 5.slows. so i wanted to do something different. and i got johnny lightning to do tunes for me, and hes got his modular game down pat. soo when i was told the kinda deals i worked up for were i sit now i stole everything... for everything i have pictured, i only invested 2500. thats 4.6, heads, cams, forged pistons, slp longtubes, midpipe catback, crankshaft, timing cover, cam chain guides/tenstioners, pi intake. rear hydroboost... i think im headed in the right direction. me and my buddy have something to do with a 68 mustang that may involve some cool goodies, but my car needs finished first.

Re: shaggys 4.6 swap: motors built, have all parts, pic update

i have not installed the engine just yet. im prettty sure i have everything just saving to pay my painter to spray my engine bay when its all out. i wanna go darker red in the fall but i dont want it to be half a*s so i want the bay painted aswell. so the 4.6 is just sitting pretty in the garage.

i did however score a free lfp flywheel (the guy ive been scoreing swap parts, putting his cobra together and something about he needed the stock fly wheel cuz its set up for 10.5... well the lfp is drilled for both clutches...) so i win! lol

and what are you looking for in the rear?? i have a extra housing if you need shots of anything...

2011-12-18160803.jpg

and what look like under my hood now!

ok a little summery for all of you that didnt read. went from a 95 3.8 with mach 1 take out shocks/ struts springs, mm cc plates, mach 1 rims/ brakes, cobra rear, no name racing seats, me own rear seat delete, mach steering wheel, smoked headlights, 5/20 tint, 255lph fuel pump, and hids, TOOOO..
4.6 283 yes 283. cobra crank, mod max feather forged rods, ross flap tops, pp stage II heads/ cams with valve train, ported plenum bbk. cai 24lb injectors, adj trigger wheel, slp long tubes, magnaflow catted x/ magnapacks, flp aluminum flywheel ram hd clutch, t45. steeda triax. misimoto radiator, oem condenser, adjstible clutch cable quadrant and fire wall adjster, autometer oil presss/ narrow band/ water temp. gt clutster with mach 1 inlay.

still have a few bugs to work out didn't replace the chassis harness so turn signals didn't work that's fixed but my parking lights and my fuel gauge isn't working. its smokes a lot until warmed up and is blowing valve cover gaskets. i think my breather system isn't doing it enough. seems to stop smoking if i run it without the oil cap... any input on this would be appreciated.

i ahd a problem with valve cover gaskets on my drivers side..i finally grinded it down in the groves where the seal fits and sprayed that spray seal onto the heads and used rtv on the corners....it hasnt leaked a drop even with nitrous thrown at it...and as far as smoking id throw some seafoam through it and then change ur grade of oil and see if it helps...

thanks frankenstang the valve covers were the only gaskets i reused. i plan on replacing them i did purchase new valve seals i heard patriots valve train isnt the best to say the least and if your not lucky you get a poopy set.
what oil would you recommend? i honestly finished this thing late January and Ive been driving it around the block every two weeks to let it get warm and fluids circulated. it also needs a tune in the worst way lol,

wanted to share with everyone what i just went threw.
been playing with the car, and ever since i got it home i knew something was off.. the car ran but it didnt sount like any 4.6 ever... it would smoke like a locamotive heavy white smoke with a hint of blue. i was worried about what i would find so the car sat untill i have the time and money to invest.. long story short i wasnt gettting any coil driver signal to cd4 (cyl 2/8) was getting no fuel signal to cly 7/8 no low speed fan and some other smaller problems. after looking deeper, the guy i bought a "98 gt brain harness" from sent me one for a v6. this doesn't work.
fixed the problem called mps auto and had them send me the correct harness and when it arrived an hour latter i finally heard the v8 come to life!

let me say i have fallen in love with the car all over again... it isn't a crazy build at all but it sure makes the car a hell of a lot more fun to drive still have plenty of bugs to work out but replacing the harness has cut 4 cel codes down to 1. and i know its a wiring issue not switching the 95 chassis harness. also still running 95 spindles. went and got some 97's just waiting for some wheel bearings in the mail and that will be swapped.

please if anyone needs info, or is interested in the swap and would like to know everything involved (that i did anyway) feel free to ask.

ill also keep this open for future upgrades and keep you guys up to speed. next its body and alot of tedious things that can finnally be done.

a 4v swap was the first swap i wanted to tackle when i was 17, but after reading into it the v8 swap intimidated me. went to slowly building a boosted v6 then ran into this guy selling all my 4.6 goodies and sold my shortblocks and m90 setups.

haha its deff been slow and steady, i have a bunch other stuff going on around the house, and its sometimes hard to find time/ money to drop into a car i don't drive. but ive been trying to get back on the horse and finish it up so i can enjoy it. i think after i get it streetable next on the list is paint. and a tune maybe some more goo fast goodies. and i want to slam it now so coil overs in the front atleast
