I have a 1995 mustang gt that just recently started to stall out when reving it at first start up. I have to let the car sit at idle for about 3-4 mins before it idling correctly enough to back out of my drive way. I did a complete tune up including cleaning the maf and iac. The check engine light doesn't come on. What do you guys think is the problem?

The car only has a cold air intake. And what I meant by reving is reving to 1500 before i decide to leave my drive way. I replaced the spark pugs, spark plug wires, and the ignition coil and it still dies sometimes. The car does this stalling when cold or when at operating temp now.

The base timing is at 12* and I run 93 octane. I cleaned the iac but will take a look at it tomorrow because now that I think about it all this started happening after I removed the iac so I must have messed up the gasket or didnt align it right.

I havent tried disconnecting the iac, but this all started happening after i removed the iac to clean it so I just realized I may have put the gasket wrong or not tight enough which is causing the car to act like this. In your opinion if i didnt install the iac correctly would it cause these symptoms?

I had this issue, off a cold start get the car running, go under the hood and push down on the red and white wires that connect to the IAC see if the idle smooths out instantly. This was my problem a loose wire.

I removed the plug at the iac and the car would die. I forgot to mention I cleaned my maf with throttle body cleaner so I replaced it because I read this ruins the maf, now the car idles at 800 rpm. Now when I rev the car to 2,000 rpm the needle drops to 500 rpm and seems like it wants to die but corrects itself. But now when I lower or roll the windows up while idling the car dies and I was thinking that it might be because the rpm is low that it doesnt let the car charge the battery at idle. Do you guys think I have to move the idle screw to make the cars idle rpm a little higher or does this sound like either the battery or alternator are shot?

I went to an auto shop and the ran a test on my battery and it said my battery is no good, i took the car out for a drive after swapping maf sensors and it didnt stall or have an unstable idle like before.

CC'S95GT: what other problem do you have in mind?

putting a load on the electrical and causing the car to stall may not be the same reason the car is running like poo.

It sounds like it's running good now. Maybe all that was needed was for the battery to be unplugged to reset the computer.
