I just got a hold of a 5 speed trans that has 300 miles on it, drive shaft, cross member, and shifter out of a saleen for $450. My 96GT has a auto so its going to be a fun swap I'm sure. since this transmission uses a hydraulic clutch any one have any idea on what to get the master from and which pedal assembly? Also it uses a 10 spline clutch that is an 11 inch with a 1 inch versus the 1 1/16 shaft.

Here is a list of what I think I will Need

Custom cross member
trans mount
custom mount on the remote shifter
clutch master cylinder and line
pedal assembly
someway to get the damn speedometer to work.

Any help would be great

I saw a 05+ trans for $300 and as soon as I saw the remote shifter and hydro clutch I said " no thanks ". It just doesn't seem worth it.....it is just a tr-3650. Good luck with your swap.

not that im being an asshole or any thing.. but why go through all the trouble of getting a new tranny and putting thousands of dollars when those transmissions have the same failure rating that ours do?

why not a TKO 600 or something?

Ok so after some research last night and today I think I may have this down. a clutch and pressure plate from an '05, a master cylinder from an '02 ford ranger 4X4, and a modified pedal assembly from an '02. The flywheel will come from an '05 also. The lines are are going to be the problem it looks like. I may be able to modify the the master cylinder and pedal assembly from an '05 also. The cross member that I am going to use is from a '02 and we will have to do some heavy modifying. Not really sure what we are going to do about the center console since that dosent affect funtionality no big deal right now. More to come later.

I thought that it was going to be a hassle to but after some more looking I should be able to do this swap for just under $1000.00. I have looked at doing swaps with other years that would be easier but the cost is just to high and the transmissions have more miles on them than I want to deal with. I dont feel like rebuilding one or buying one that is killer built. I dont really plan on having more than 325HP when i get done with what I want with this car so from what I can see so far this is the best option for me. This car is a daily driver and I still have my play toys that we take to the drag strip.

Update: I actually did some more research today and some measuring the shaft on my trans is not 1", but 1 1/16. So that means any clutch from any GT from 99-09 according to american muscle they have a SPEC 2 that I am looking at. Since I already have the slave no need to get another one. Also I found the line from the master cylinder down to the transmission brand new from Ford for $55, so that problem solved. I found the flywheel for $55 also, Master from a 08' for $85 brand new. So now all I need is a pedal assembly. I am looking for a set from a '05-09' that has been wrecked. I plan on cutting it up so if anyone knows where one is please let me know. More to come later.
