Just for the record it does go both ways, I know a guy with 3.73s that wants 3.55s.

Like me. I have 3:73:1 gears and want 3:55:1 gears, but then again I run a H/C/I/100 shot too so I can't hook for poop.

traction issue with my 3.73s is bad enough, and first gear is short enough too, I wouldn't put 4.10s on a 5.0L unless it was an auto. 4.10s work better on 4.6s from what I have seen, the 5.0L's have plenty of torque to spin the tires with 2.73s, 3.55/3.73 is perfect for street/strip use imo.

Ok you want the real answer to your question here it is plain and simple. Gear the car according to the engine set up period the end.

running less gear isnt going to do a damn thing for you.. learn how to setup your rear suspension.. you'd be amazed what kind of difference itll make

I run Eibach sportline springs, tubular LCA's/UCA's, stock struts/shocks, and 315 Sumitomo HTRZ's. I know not the greatest suspension set up. I am looking at different springs and some struts/shocks, but I doubt they will make that big of a difference. It's a street car and only drag raced maybe 3 times a summer so I'm not gonna put drag springs or struts/shocks on it.

Completely agree and mines an auto, if i had known what a bit more horespower was going to do i would have stuck with the stock 2:73.
On a stock car some better gearing is no bad thing but think about where your going with it.

those are your biggest problems. Lowered cars have a hard time launching b/c of the changes in rear suspension geometry. Get some stock coils in the back, with one ring cut out... and get rid of those shit ass tires

Depending on what you have done, I am glad I put the gears I have in now as with the new cam, my power starts hits hard at like 3k now, so I need all the "torquey" acceleration help i can get. Some people are different, my cousin with a 4.6 has 4.10s and wishes he would have gotten 3.73s, depends on how much gear you want, everyone is different.

Yeah I know lowered cars are harder to launch which is why I am looking at different suspensions and the tires are shit. But the tires are also new (less then 100 miles) so I'm not gonna replace them till they get worn down, but when they do get worn down I'll be replacing them with something a bit stickier.
