I was in the same boat a few months ago before i started tearing into my 302. I wanted a 351 in my 94gt, but after adding up all the numbers, I was going to spend over 3500 for the swap, and I was going to do all the work. If you dont plan on getting a good set of heads, which i think some 205's would be adequate for 351, then stick to the 302. For some reason we all get caught up in wanting to throw in a 351 with 302 parts, and when your done with your build, Joe Blow from down the street will be smoking you in his vtech.

And besides, you can build a fun, reliable little street rocket out of a 302 and not break the bank. I suggest, unless you have about 4K to spend on a 351 swap, just build up your 302.

well like i said earlier ive got the money to biuld it with a good set of heads (i dont have a ball park of what to spend on it really, not saying im just loaded with money but ill spend what i have to to do it right) Plus im going to be biulding it myself so that saves an ass load there. if i had to put a goal on the hp, i guess between 325-375 whp would be fine. I know im gonna drop a couple G's on parts and that fine, i just want the right parts, wich is really the reason for this post.

TEA fast as cast trickflow heads, custom cam, holley systemax intake, and midlength headers. You will be over 350hp, have driveability, and make plenty of power. Simple enough. It's what alot of people run.

that sounds like a good setup also, and ive heard good things about the trick flow heads, i was actually looking at them today, is the holley system max intake the best to run?

for a 351 you would want to run something more like the Trick Flow R for the 351. They are damn $$$$ though, I was lucky and got mine before the price went through the roof. The Victor 5.8 is another choice of intake for a 351 and its a bit cheaper then the Trick Flow. If you were building a 302 Id put the system max on it.

i love the trick flow R, others were telling me its more of a race or forced induction intake, so im glad to hear that, yea there like 8-900 dollars, but if it works well i dont care. thanks bro.

Im running mine NA and its not a race car. Its got great top end power. I believe they were probably thinking of the Box R upper intake. That intake and custom cam I have peaks my power at 5,500 but it does not drop off, it stays steady to 6,100 at the peak.

This is where I got mine, I still think they are the cheapest but I have not shopped around for one for awhile now. The one w/ the 90MM opening is about $20 more.

i've had 600 hp stock bottom end 302s whats your point... a roller 351 block is not much stronger then a 302 roller.

351 with gt40 heads will be heavier and make the same if not less hp then a 302 with the same heads. a couple 1000 is not going to get this swap done unless your buying used junk.

who cares if its different and has a 351 if it will be heavier, slower, and handle worse then a mild 302

Thats why you dont put 302 parts like the GT40 stuff on a 351 or you will make 302 power out if it.

Mine came w/ the 351 already in it so I didnt have to go through the hassle of the swap and the best advise I can give you is that if you go through w/ this build it right the first time. Ive changed the Cam and Intake since I got it and I want to do the heads over the winter. It was a 351 with mostly 302 parts on it. It had a cobra intake and it currently have AFR 185's but IMO it really needs a set of 205cc heads. So plan everything out from the start so your not second guessing yourself later on
