As the title states, I have about 3k to spend on my/a car and i'm kinda stumped as what to do so I thought i'd get some opinions. The choices are to either save up and buy a fairly stock bullitt and be broke, OR, spend 3k on my car. If I spend it on my car I think i'll drop it on coil-overs/k-member. If I have anything left over I might throw some gears in it. That or I could also buy a good Vortech and burn some tires while my transmission cries all the way home. I really don't know guys, give me some opinions or reasons why I should or shouldn't do any of these^^^. Oh, car's already paid for obviously.

Here's what i'm working with now. If I keep it, a roll bar will also be added along with wheels.

Sounds lovely.. except I think I'd like to build this car from the back forwards. I'll kill myself if I put a turbo on it now, plus my tranny would probably give up on me.

I'm leaning towards looks/handling. I drive rough roads everyday and I figure I should be able to get a smoother ride with coilovers. The K-member would also reduce some weight up front while making it grip better. I wouldn't mind doing autox when I have the chance too. I guess i'm going for a real "balanced" DD until I can find a suitable beater. Once I have a beater I think i'll start on power.

Two questions for you. Do you have to have the MM K-member to run coilovers up front? And can you tell a big difference with new sway bars? I've heard they're mostly good for tuning after you've gotten everything else done. Mine's already a 30mm which seems fairly good sized. Oh, and I already have some "redneck" subframes.

No, you dont have to
i have them on my stock K member.

yes, you can tell.

then you are good, get some RLCAs and check the bushings on the axle where the uppers bolt on to.

Do you run the tubular control arms up front or is it all stock other than the coil-overs? I'd really like to reduce the understeer if I can by removing weight etc. I guess I'll start with coil-overs and a PHB/LCA's. That should be a good start. Thanks guys.

My front suspension consist of:

03 Cobra arms, UPR bump steer kit, MM brace, 03 cobra steering rack, Eibach sway bar, MM Caster camber plates and Coilovers..

Also,i would run springs outback and coilovers up front.

Sorry for all the questions, but what's the benefit of running springs in the back? Is it that there's just no point at all in running coil-overs in the back?

Ive talked to several guys about this matter, one of them Duff daddy and we agreed that running coilovers upfront and outback is overkill.
Plus is alot cheaper. a full set of coilover with strust and shocks included runs about 1200 ballpark.

But we are nobody lol

I'd rather listen to two guys with budgets than a salesman lol. You two always seem to have pretty good advice, I should have gotten that T-5 you sold a while back, that would have been great advice to heed. Oh well. I just want to make sure and spend this 3k wisely.

Yeah, the local redneck that was recommended to us replaced bearings/synchros and the worn out input shaft but didn't replace the main drive gear that runs off of the input shaft. Also didn't do any shimming.. The thing whines and hums and growls and everything else you can think of. Does the guy you know do work fairly cheap? It wouldn't be a big deal for me to drop it again. I'm tired of feeling like i'm shifting through a bucket of rocks and having a fake supercharger whine.

I know I know haha, I should have gotten it. And yes, I thought about the Tremec, but was trying to keep it on a tight budget and power adders are pretty far down the road at this point. Should have just gone for the 3550 though. As far as the good cerveza i'm only 19 and getting pulled over with a car full of the good stuff doesn't go very well lol. We could work something out though.

ok, what you are looking to do i have done. mine consists of:

MM PHB, MM RLCAs, HD FRPP uppers, steeda springs and poly isos in the rear. in the front i have QA1 k-member, GMS coilovers, kyb shocks and struts, steeda sway bars. it rides night and day dramatically from stock. i went from stock to this setup. i can not complain what so ever. only drawbacks is once you go poly/spherical bushings you can feel every imperfection in the road and in your vehicle. youll nitpick at things you didnt feel before. just lots of tweaking. im on the lift atleast twice a month tweaking something so it doesnt rattle, vibe, chirp etc. its daily driven for the time being until i find where im warm and fuzzy in suspension.
