Hey everyone, I just picked up a '94 Cobra the other day and I'm looking for some mods asap! This is my goal for the car. I'm looking for around 350 N/A, then after I get that N/A, I'll be looking to add some type of forced induction. The car I've got only has a MSD distributor, stock manifolds, BBK H pipe, and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Everything else is stock. I'm looking to do a cam of some sort that's not too too radical, intake, long tubes and pretty much anything else that can get me the 350 whp N/A. Any ideas as to what I should start with and the best place to get the items?

Hey i would say a set of good Trick flow or AFR heads is a start but your gonna have to get some more Cubic inches out of that thing! 331 or 347...Than a good cam and intake to match! It cost a good bit to make a 302 have that kind of power N/A...Your setup is pretty similar to mine and so for 2k you could go the S-trim route and be over your 350 power level! just a thought!

GEARS!,K&N fipk,H/C/I with a tune or your comp wont paly well with the h/c/i at all. it really depends how much you have to spend on it. if you have the money id get some afr heads and a custom cam. not sure about the intake?? you could always get a trickflow topend kit for a good price.

you wont get 350 RWHP out of a 302 N/A at least not the typical type of build up. You will likley see around 300 with H/C/I and exhaust work

I agree...just do good heads & intake and put a blower on it...I don't even want a radical cam as I want more driveability than all out go...This route should be an easy to live with driver.

Nice ride... you could get that type of horsepower but a cam, heads, and a shot of laughing gas ! Oh yea, but that would only be a temporary fix...

350 is a little high N/A unless you're doing a big build. And if you do that, you'll have to completely change th esetup to get good numbers with forced induction.

300hp is a little bit more reasonable N/A but is still kinda stretching it.

Just set it up for the blower now. Save up, do it all at once. Have fun with it

you guys dont think that with a 347 some afr heads, custom cam and intake(tuned of course) he could hit close to 350 rwhp? maybe a few bolt on's too(cai and gears) i would love to build myself a 347 with h/c/i..

using your 302 will get you to 300-310's

i highly reccomend a stroker kit and good HCI, you will see anywhere from 320-340ish maybe 350's

if everything was set up right and my 347 didn't make 350 i would tell the cam maker to shove it up his ass

Yes a built 347 could hit those numbers, but it sounded like he was talking about leaving the cubic inches alone with a 302
and adding anything and everything to the stock shortblock to make 350rwhp, which isn't very likely.
Ballpark hp for H/C/I 302 is 290-310rwhp. similar HCI on a 306, probably 300-320 (buddy of mine is at 312hp with his 92 gt),
and 331 HCI with high compression (10.5 to 1 or similar) might put you in the 320-350 range with an aggressive setup.

Wow, I thought that 5.0's were capable of more than that N/A. Oh well. I think I'm gonna go with the trickflow intake, it looks to be reasonably priced on summit. How much do these stock 94-95 Cobra intakes generally sell for?

The trick flow intake is a good choice, I can tell you that they make great power, NA or supercharged. The track heat will get you a bit more top end too. If your gonna do TFS intake, I suggest matching it to their heads and a custom cam or the TF cam, it will make the best power that way.

You could probably sell your stock intake for about 250-300, depending on condition.

X2, factory 94-95 cobra intakes are getting harder to find. Another suggestion would be to have your factory intake ported,
put a set of AFR 165s or TrickFlow twisted wedge heads, and get a custom cam built, and have a nice, fun street car.
I have the TFS1 top end kit, around the 300rwhp mark, and it is fun to drive on the street. A lot of people want some certain
number for horsepower on their car, but if the car runs good, is reliable, and you can just start it up and go, then that may be
worth the 50 hp less than you were thinking.

agree 100%. your barking up two trees at the same time. eventually you won't be able to straddle them both and your going to fall(spend so much extra money).

either build it for a n/a to reach 350 or build a h/c/i in prep of the blower. if you build for a n/a 302 w/ 350rwhp it won't be an ideal setup for a blower

Why did you think that? The new GT's barley get over 300 at the flywheel. Having a car thats 15 years old putting down 300 at the wheels is very nice.
