i'd keep the intake a cobra with out a cobra intake is like a flat chested girl send it over to tmoss tell him your exact plans. get twedge heads, 1.7s rr, a cam like a anderson b-21 or custom, long tubes, gears, then strap the blower of choice on and you will then have a mean stang you will have to be careful you dont crack your block

ive seen a few 306 setups with afr 185s and a good custom cam put in the 330 range to the tires. fwiw, the cobra manifold runs out of air about 5-5500 rpm. its an outdated manifold imo, if you do a head and cam swap the cobra/ gt40 will choke the engine out in the upper rpm range. its a decent low end torque manifold but to get the most out of your engine with the better head and cam setup i would look into the eddy rpm, typhoon, trickflow trackheat setups which will make power till around 6500 rpm with minimal loss at the lower end power. what kind of goals do you want with the car? what kind of budget are you looking at?

Well in having a Cobra a Steeda cam is near worthless as it has nearly the exact same specs as your stock Cobra cam.

To hit 350 rwhp is not very hard starting off with a cobra, all you need is a solid 10 PSI blower kit, a good tune, and a handful of supporting mods and you're there.

You have a Cobra, leave the intake and heads stock, if you don't you'll ruin the value of the car. In my book, if you have a 5.0 and it's a Cobra, you leave it stock or F/I only, but that's totally my opinion only, do what you wish, it's your car.

he was looking to hit 350 N/A which is not pratical with a 302. H/C/I + boost on a 302 and your looking at close to 500

this is so incorrect, the steeda cam is much more aggressive than the stock cam.

Where did you come from :tongue3: did you get your pulley?

I would just keep the cobra intake if I were you.

I would still like to know why 350rwhp? Do you have an ET goal or looking for a fun street car or what?

350 just seemed like an "average" goal, it's what most cars have around on the streets. If I'm in the 12's I'll be happy, this is a DD, so I won't be doing anything too radical. I just always heard everyone bragging about how much better the 5.0's are compared the 4.6's were, so that's a reason why I went to a 5.0 instead of going back to a 4.6.

I'm working with the guy on the pulley.

Hey Onyx, doesn't the B-303 and the Steeda have nearly the same specs? Just asking as now I'm currious.

B 303:
Lift - .480
Duration - 224 intake, 224 exhaust
Lobe Center - 107* intake, 117* exhaust

Steeda #19
Lift - .480
Duration - 220 intake, 226 exhaust
lobe center - 115* (doesn't state intake or exhust)

Pretty close to me. I know how the Steeda makes more power, I just can't see it making a ton more.

+1, all you need is a good driver, a good set of tires, and approx 280ish rwhp to do so (if that much).

what do the B303 and Steeda have to do with the stock Cobra cam? Cobras do NOT have B cams stock, only similarity is .480 lift w/ the cobra rockers.

Ok, here's what I think I'm going to do for now...

I'm gonna keep the GT40 heads and just maybe port the exhaust ports, just depends on how much a p&p job is locally.

I'll be selling the Cobra upper and lower intake in replace for the Trickflow upper and lower intake with elbow.

Then I'll be looking for a cam, any ideas as to which cam will go with my overall goal ( listed below )? I'd like a nice lopy idle if at all possible.

Gears ( no brainer ).

And if I can find a good deal on a s-trim, I'll probably do that. If not, I'll spray it for a little bit until I can get some kind of supercharger. ( Ultimate goal )

Well, I saw one on Corral for $1,200 a little while ago ( which I thought was a pretty good deal ), but it just depends. That's going to be my last " investment ."

TFS 1 or 2, with a blower you could run a F-cam also. If you are willing to spend much more, maybe a custom grind, but you wouldn't want to change your setup much after you get a custom cam

Well I'll be, I just learned something new.
