So i blew my head gasket... yipee... So I was planning on putting a cam in it anyways. What cam would be a good street cam at a reasonable price? What other parts would I need if I got a new cam? Hardened valve springs? Hardened pushrods? Rocker arms? I just dont want to spend a fortune. Thats why I decided not to change motors

Changing to a mild cam won't require new valve springs, pushrods or rocker arms but I would definitely check with the cam manufacturer's recommendations. Also, if you're gonna install the cam yourself, check the condition of the valve train (valve spring squareness, installed height, make sure the pushrods are straight, etc.).

Would an E-303 be considered a mild cam? Thats what I was leaning towards. I don't think I'll be installing this myself either.

i have steedas #19 cam and im happy with that. good streetability and feels good on the butt dyno.

steeda 19 cam would be a good choice or even a trickflow stage one, but you won't gain any (might even lose) horsepower without a head and intake swap at the same time.

Why do people like Alphabet Cams so much?

Yeah A TFS1 Cam would still be good...

A cam with stock e7e heads is about only worth the sound of a gnarly idol....If you're on a budget, you'll thank yourself to just fix the issue now with the headgasket (which probably blew for a reason that in itself needs to be addressed) and save up for mods later on down the road. I know it sounds like a perfect oppourtunity to stick in some go fast bits but I'd save the money man.

it has gt40 heads. and the head gasket blew because it overheated pretty bad on my trip to daytona (2 hours away). I dont know what to do, im still thinking

I've always heard any cam larger than stock requires new valve springs, and with that hardened pushrods aren't a bad idea.

just to note i changed my heads and intake at the time of my cam swap. as stated i dont feel a new cam with stock top end would get you the result your looking for

I must agree fix the gasket and find out why she was overheating.

You only need better valve springs if the spec's on the cam are to much for the stock or current springs. I had upgraded springs on mine but still needed new ones when I got the custom cam from FTI. If you go w/ an E cam (which I wouldn't) or a TFS Stage 1 or comp 2031 then you will be ok w/ out needing new springs. But be sure you know why it over heated unless it was just one of those things b/c it was really hot out.
