i have in my possession an 8-rib crank, power steering, alternator, a/c compressor and idler pullies to make this conversion. Has anyone done the same? i have a vortech kit that is 8 rib also and find it very ideal to swap everything over. im wondering if anyone has done the same.

i just bought the BGG kit for my procharger i did however swap all the pulleys myself and it's worth it you will see some boost gain plus it helps with belt slippage

has anyone else sourced their parts as i did? excursions and f-150s with the 5.4 are all compatible. the idler pulley rubs a little on the mock up. a metal file should fix that. until i finish my long block i cant tell for sure if it will all fit for sure.

I am not sure at all. I want to know tho, so post up once you get everything mocked up. The rubbing doesn't sound promising tho, shouldn't be doing that should it? Maybe different offset from the other stuff?

its a different offset by a smidge and not much. when i go to powder coat the cover it may be worse. i have 2 8-ribbed alternators, 8 rib crank/idler/ps pullies and a/c delete/compressor.... i bought my vortech from an 8-ribbed 5.4 f-150 kit. i am going to get with vortech to see if i can use it still or if rotations make a difference. if i face it in the current direction i may have to change the discharge rotation in direction of the aftercooler or get a new casing being that its a clockwise outlet. 4.6 discharge outlet is counter-clockwise.

Huh, that's different. Yeah, the 4.6 stuff is all ccw rotation, thought the 5.4 stuff was too?

OMG, what a frankstein setup that is! Geeze. Yeah, you will need a different blower, doubt you can swap impellers yourself. Maybe, but I would think it would require the factory to do it if it was even possible.

im sure i could do it. i mess with jet hvac turbines. im sure that cant be any different. i do agree that the mess that picture shows is awful. i do have a 4.6 bracket. id love to be able to use the direction the blower is in now. the aftercooler direction is perfect.

I guess I wasn't specific enough, I am sure you are capable of taking it apart and putting it back together. I do however know there are specific tolerances that are not public because they are proprietary to Vortech, and I also know that the gears in the drive unit are meshed for cw rotation and not ccw rotation. It is going to be very expensive to change. You could just look for a ccw and change housings but I am not sure they are able to be swapped without clearance checks, which they won't tell you what it should be. That's what I meant. I am a procharger, vortech and paxton dealer, and none of them will sell parts for their head units. It's always the sos, send it back and we'll fix it for 900 bucks or more. lol.

There is a write up on corral and modded mustangs that tell you what you need to complete the kit, like the size of the shim.

Well if that's the kit, that's cool, but the parts, where do you get an impeller and ccw gears? Vortech doesn't sell that stuff. The bearings I heard are even proprietary on some blowers.

928M is the only place that sells impellers for the vortech S trim. They also sell bearings and seals. 928's impeller is an upgraded version and is what I was running for a while and it was good for a 2-3lbs earlier in the rpm and 2 lbs more at peak.

That's what I would do. I know they make the housings that shoot straight out for custom setups.

Yeah, unfortunately that's not the case. I have helped guys piece together setups and man, I'm telling you it's cheaper to buy the kit in most instances. It really is. Or if you buy a used kit, the ONLY way I would do it is if you buy it off the car running, and get to see it work and get to help take it off, so you get all the parts.
